Andrew Caulfield notes in TDN the growing impact that German bloodlines have been having on the Arc.

Danedreamer's sire, Lomitas, is out of a mare by Surumu, a German Derby winner who was Germany's champion sire on six occasions and who sired Acatenango, a five-time champion sire. Surumu also sired the dam of Hurricane Run, winner of the 2005 Arc. Acatenango sired the dam of this year's winners of both the Kentucky Derby and German Derby.

King's Best, sire of the 2010 Arc winner Workforce, is out of the German-bred Allegretta, who also ranks as the dam of the 1993 winner Urban Sea, who in turn became the dam of Sea the Stars, the outstanding Arc winner in 2009.

Hello,
many thanks for all the congrats to the "surprise win" of Danedream in the Arc. Unfortunately I couldn't watch the race "live", because I had to work.

Luckily their was a feature in the Sunday Racing TV from hoppegarten, showing the all race and the "Via triumphalis".

Even more , not only the Horse was German, the filly is trained by one of the best German Trainer Peter Schiergen, a former Top Jockey an Jockey of Danedreams Sire Lomitas (sadly deceased).

Mr. Andrasch Starke is one of your best contemporary Jockey, He was already back in the saddle at Hoppegarten (Berlin) for riodeing in teh 'Westminster Preis'.

Regards, Bettina

She's certainly an exceptional filly. Thanks for the inspiring video, Frank.

It's good to be reminded that in some places racing is first and foremost still a thrilling sport and not just some adjunct of an "industry".
