Only the long turf Dubai Sheema Classic is closer to ante post prediction...the rest are very much NBA 3 pointer shootouts.
Mon country Rocket Man failed to recapture the glory of last year...a 2nd is good enuff...I was somewhat surprised Sepoy had only two beaten in the field of 12.
In the 16f Gold Cup on turf, Joshua Tree finally made his presence felt but in such unlikely place.....a respectable 2nd and only 3/4 length behind consistent Opinion Poll, a son of Halling.

Which genius decided that it would be a good idea to run the cancelled race AGAIN in the same card even after there was a fatality. So many red flags about doing that just to please the visitors I guess. Anyway all it did was kill 2 more horses. Are vet-checks not as thorough or non-existent? I am very unhappy and will make it known whenever and wherever I can. It's very difficult to break down a fit thoroughbred .....it takes a lot of blind eyes and /or stupidity which at the highest level of racing I find bewildering.

Wilf:
I followed the World Cup races on racingpost.com as they happened.
The decision to rerun the Gold Cup apparently occurred in collaboration with the wishes, if not at the behest, of the owners, trainers and jockeys involved in the initial aborted running.

I was absolutely gobsmacked when they decided to re-start that race. Maybe they've never had an abandoned race at Meydan and didn't know how to handle it. If they were concerned about being "fair" to the owners about trying to earn the money, they could have just divided the purse equally. After all, all of the purse money comes from sponsorship, not any handle, since they have no handle there. Re-starting that race was really irresponsible in light of all of the criticism racing has been taking the last few years. They should have thought more like the producers of "Luck" and thought about the guff they'd get if there was another breakdown...and there was not one, but two.

Shouldn't the race be allowed to carry on in the 1st place ? Sad that Fox Hunt fell... At the time of his fall..he was travelling 4-wide...and more importantly..he was rolling outwards after breaking down.

They said on TV that Fox Hunt was in the path of the race & they were unable to get him up. That's why the race was halted.
