hi bdw0617

Fair enough.

bdw0617 wrote:...but when you are talking best ever, in those terms that's something that has to be earned, not speculated on.

I referenced Spectacular Bid because I saw him (up close and personal), knew exactly what I was looking-at/seeing/witnessing...and he earned my utmost respect, and set the bar EXTREMELY high.

As for Frankel, I would submit he's worthy being called GREAT, for what he's accomplished thus far. But he has NOT done enough to convince me that he's approaching, much less reached, the level attained by (for starters) Spectacular Bid.

To my way of thinking, Frankel is GREAT...Spectacular Bid was (from my perspectfive) beyond great...he was a FREAK 8) .

Before his racing career is over, maybe Frankel will accomplish more, and ultimately raise the bar so high...that he too may be worthy the accolade freak.

Best to ya.

Respectfully

i agree.

after the week i actually came away more impressed with black caviar. she traveled to a new Continent, and raced with 2 muscle tears and still won.

they won;'t give frankel any adversity to try to prove himself.

Would love to see the BC add a bonus to the Mile, should he show up.

Why should you race frankel, in an very poluted enviroment at an small track?

Most horses overhere, get,s their deserved rest, after the L,arc meeting.

Most of them are becoming in their wintercoats and loose form. So I do not think he will come over.

The bringing over of superhorse Dancing Brave to Santa Anita in 1986 was a huge mistake and lessons were learned from it. This was a monster who loved a right-handed "galloping " track with plenty of room to make his powerful stretch run,it was late fall after a long hard campaign and he was jetted over to the heat and humidity of the soupbowl that was S.A. with the smog and tight left-handed track,he could only ruin his reputation,he was on a hiding to nothing. I was there and it was an awful shame. I hope that Frankel does not travel a similar path.

I lived in Sierra Madre for 3 years and when the air gets stale and sits on you in the fall ,it feels pretty gooey to me. Now in the period of Dec-Jan-Feb I found it much fresher and very pleasant with rain of course to wash down the dust.

been to the BC there twice. Both times the Santa Anna winds caused horrible wild fires and smoke in the whole region.

NOT good for horses period.

Frankel to face just 3 mediocre opponents in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood this Wednesday. The race will be contested over his favorite one mile distance. One of his foes will be his older 1/2 brother and stablemate Bullet Train. TJ

Frankel won by six over his 3 opponents today. Later this month, on August 22nd in the Group I Juddmonte International at York. Frankel will attempt to run beyond a mile for the first time in his career. The Juddmonte will be contested at slightly more than a 1 1/4 miles. TJ

The best horse that I ever saw run in person was the Aussie monster Kingston Town and I even "strapped" a great horse that beat him called Ming Dynasty. KT had the same talents as Frankel as his explosive turn of foot would leave good horses in his wake. It is no fault of truly great horses that as time goes by other owners and trainers are loathe to run against them for fear of breaking their horse's spirit. Frankel is a truly great horse so just enjoy this brief moment in time as it will soon pass and we may be swamped in mediocrity once more.
