to make matters worse, the one real feel good story they should have been doing.. the one where Ritvo, a female trainer, was not just in the race, but had a live horse, and a real chance to become the first female trainer to win the classic, they didn't do.
then when she actually won you can feel them scrambling like "oh crap we missed this one"

Fact is that racing has always had real stars who KNEW racing - from the days of Bing Crosby. Now its the Jim Romes and Bobby Flays who can hook certain markets. But they are not the story. I'm waiting for a Super Bowl presentation when a star from the racing business makes the trophy presentation.
