I guess Fong let his early success against you go to his head - he never outbroke anyone ever again!

BDW - he'd be in front in :22 after being left and rushing up...those horses had to run :20 4/5 to be in front in :22.

Roke, One day I will show you the one race I rode and won. You'll see just how bad I was coming out of the gate. How I made the lead I will never know!

Tuc - that's OK. Just promise me that you've never ponied a horse and wound up getting dragged around the track. I used to see that and it would crack me up! When trainers would ask new exercise riders, "Have you ever ponied?", they'd all say "Yeah!" It doesn't take long to figure out which ones were telling the truth. LOL!

No REALLY bad pony ing stories, but I did break break my finger in half. Have the lovely x rays to prove it. The last time I ponied without a rider. I am deformed as a result of a recacitrant, contrarian, argerntinian nag. Never ever again! Not in my job description anymore!
Ponying sucks!!! I have all of the respect in the world for those who do it well! And it sure does seperate the good pony riders from the bad in a hurry!!!
I once saw an outrider get pulled out of the tack when he picked one up. On a sloppy track too. I felt rather bad and somewhat amused but the turn of events

Is that true? Likely a better career move... no offense intended.

Maybe at a smaller venue. But he is SOL with the jockey colony such as it is about to be.

He gets the odd one, but they are an auto toss. They are either for some hack or a bad step away from breaking down. I don't know how he makes a living or why he bothers to make weight.
