Hi

Right now (before the PP draw) I like Big Brown, Big Truck, Eight Belles, and Court Vision, and am leaning toward Court Vision to win. May change tomorrow.

Just a note on Big Brown.
On another board I go to, there are some that are very firm in their belief that a "Boundary" will never get a mile and a quarter.
They even have some very strong statistics regarding his offspring and such.
Basically, they had to dig to find even one that has gotten a mile and an eighth win besides him.
So, for me it is VERY telling that something is coming from his dam. Something very strong that is giving him an unusual ability to get a distance of ground despite his sire.
Boundary, statistically always sires sprinters, even when matched to strong stamina influenced mares.
So, why does Big Brown get so well going 2 turns?
It's either coming from mama, or the double shot of stamina from the inbreeding to Damascus and Round Table.
Very likely if you ask me.
The fact that he is doing just the contrary to what his sire produces screams "Freak".
I think he might romp Saturday.

On a sentimental note, Smooth Air.

I also think people have written Pyro off way too fast.

Well, post position draw sure screwed everything up... Would've gone for Gayego and Big Brown, but I'm changing that a bit now.

My head tells me Colonel John is by far the class of the race, but my heart/gut just can't go along with it.

Court Vision
Big Brown

(Would LOVE to see Anak Nakal make a good run! I'm still saddened that his dad, Victory Gallop, was sold to Turkey.)

very wise of you bdw. are you going to handicap this thing for us, or are you tossing this race as unworthy of your effort :?
(edited: oops. i overlooked Pyro's 4/21 work, so i withdraw this comment. Pyro's might be flying at the end!)

If quarter cracks and the notorious Derby Day macadam surface at Churchill don't do him in, then it's Big Brown.

Otherwise Z Fortune bests the filly at the wire.
