When I 1st saw PE on the toe ring, i saw a blocky QH type of tb with a very heavy frame, i said to myself, how long will PE last with all that weight on his underpining. I am always suspicious of those heavy frame tb as their conformation is out of balance, which places great stress on their legs.
Lets hope PI works his way back to run again.

A shocking turn of events.
I do find it amazing that we go from a good maiden score on Pro Ride to the Kentucky Derby? Is this really what we do these days. I know it's not toally unrealistic, but it is interesting.

Here's a direct quote from that article:
"Point Encounter is owned and bred by the Kentucky West Racing stable of Patrick O'Keefe, and was listed as 15-1 co-favorite in the Wynn future book Derby odds in Las Vegas."

So is that what we've come to? It only takes one race to become the futures favorite for the Derby? With only four months before the race? Really? Pathetic...

UM... I don't know that we've agree on much over the years, but we certainly agree on this one! So silly. People do love that knee jerk reaction and head to the future book... One race. I hope some dummy lost their butt. No offense to anyone, but it's just silly.

Darn it, I heard so much about his strange legs that I had to see for myself and now look what happened.. What's with the vague "soft tissue" thing? I mean sounds like Gaines wasn't unaware, just didn't wanna say. Was that just the spin BH put on the article?

It sounded to me like Carla Gaines was giving a rather unveiled opinion of the Santa Anita racing surface.

Carla's not stupid. She is aware of what goes on in her barn. Believe you me!

JMHO

From what i,ve seen on the video this no more than a logical thing to have happend.
A heavy body that is putting to much pressure on bones soft tissue,s etc.
This kind of horses needs time, time and over again time.
Look to the way he is walking, big overwalk from behind like an unbalanced yearling.

The way a horse is walking provides information, for the maturity, power,
elasticity joint function and a number of other highly interesting information.
As the walk is more or less referrable to galop.

Legs being ill conformed might indicate that he has a funky way of going period. Talent yes, longevity, no.
