For all you pedigree gurus, the Road to the Roses competition has begun. It can be a great deal of fun and it's free.
I created a league that Pedigree Board Members are invited to join, and we could either use this thread or the one entitled RTTR (started by Cainhoy also in this Racing part of the forum, asking if anyone had started a league) to discuss our fantabulous handicapping abilities, or in my case commiserate on what might have been if I'd just paid more attention to Bill and George.
Unfortunately when I created the league I was in a snit at work about something, and feeling sorry for myself so I stupidly called the league Geowarrior's Clique (a clique with just me in it) - talk about regression to high school! I hope that won't prevent you all from joining. Below are the instructions as to how to join.
Assuming you have signed up first at Roadtotheroses.com, then log in to your existing account and then enter the following league info:
Geowarrior's Clique
League Identifier 2100085423
Activation Code 820975421
I hope you'll join despite the self centered league name, I was just having one of those days on which my persona appeared to me to be nothing more than pathetic. But if we ignore that, the more folks that join, the more fun.

Anyone have any opinions on Perfect Song or Dunkirk (and please excuse if I missed seeing them on one of the lists - one thing about the K.D. it's a lot of names to keep track of)?
And re. Mr. Fantasy, if he's anything like Hard Spun he'd become one of my favorite horses ever. Hard Spun was all class.
Perfect Song with a male half of 71.89 and a female half that is dragged down with Prospector's Music at 56.93 to give a GSV of 64.41 seems a bit short, but behind the Propspector's Music cross is very solid and anything can happen if they push through the cross of PM.
Dunkirk has a GSV of 77.07 that I just updated by a whole 0.2 ish from doing the research on the sire of his fourth dam Coppersmith this morning [he had earlier been given a minimal default value as I had not researched him. Besides he was in the 5th generation.
Right now if Friesen Fire [76.99] and Dunkirk if they start in the Derby look like they would have the highest GSV's in the field and therefore, Dunkirk would be the representative of my GSV bid to win the Derby with the 4th consecutive horse having the highest GSV score in the race.
hope that helps, George

Wow, thanks George for the info on Dunkirk and Perfect Song. I liked Dunkirk but had no idea he was quite that high on the GSV list. I do like Perfect Song also - I just have feeling about him (although I've had fairly expensive 'feelings' before).
On a slightly different topic, the following is a cross-post from various other places that I wrote as a thank you: "Thanks Cainhoy and so many others for joining our Pedigree Query League. Congrats to Wendy as she leads the fray through the Turf Paradise Derby.
Last year's winner of the Pedigree Query League was the formidable George William Smith - and we welcome him again as a participant (my goal is to get closer to his score this year). Bill from WA, how about putting up a conduit mare profile stable against the GSV stable?
There's still lots of time and room for our friends who participated last year to join the fun. I personally think that RTTR is important because with its 35,000 or so participants, many of whom do not join in the paid stable program but simply compete for free, it's a forum for racing fans to display that they can enjoy racing and racing strategy without gambling money. The head cooks and bottle washers of the racing administrations should take note of this. Of course they want money, but they really really want fans - people to visit tracks, people to watch t.v., people to follow their favorite horses, just people to love racing again. Money may then follow.
A decision though - should we discuss RTTR issues on Cainhoy's RTTR thread or on this Kentucky Derby thread started by Bill from WA? I defer to the majority on this, but this one already seems to be well on its way to several interesting facets of Derby discussion.
My first question to get things kicked off wherever we decide to settle. Has anyone an explanation for the work patterns of Stardom Bound? She seems to work pretty slowly in the morning but the works are noted as 'Handily'. Do you think it's hard to keep her fit and that's why Frankel wants the extra race before the SA Derby? I didn't think Frankel was a 'handily' sort of person.
