This thread got me in trouble last night...

I was reading replies, having a good chuckle, when my hubby popped in... I was trying to explain how funny it all is but now he thinks I've been going online to some illicit "chat room", talking to who knows who... :!:

I tried to explain that this is an unusual topic, to no avail...

Hi Sam,

Learning about the bra/cancer connection in 6th grade doesn't make the research less relevant or old news, it just makes you very young. The connection is more statistically significant than cigarettes and smoking. I wouldn't be so dismissive.

Also, remember, you don't have to go braless, to make use of the research. Just, don't wear it as long or as tight fitting, if you can help it. As someone pointed out, riding at the seated trot can make a sports bra an absolute necessity! LOL. But then you should change out of it, when you can.

I also agree with those who posted that too much fuss was made over this celebrity's braless (and apparently large-breasted) victory dance. maybe that's because I spend a lot of time in the City, where every newstand is covered in pictures of naked women, there's sex on TV all day - whatever. I also think your argument would be as much with TVG as with Jennifer Love Hewitt. But I don't care - it doesn't shock me as much - you don't see it that much in racing, so let them all have their jollies for the day. Brad Pitt would be interesting... but I like my men a little brainier.... plus you'd have Angelina Jolie lurking in the background and she might be a member of the Bra-Free society.

I once had a boyfriend who thought I must be a good swimmer because I was so well endowed. Yeah, he said seriously, it helps you float. I had a hard time convincing him he was rounding Mars and heading out towards Saturn because I had actually broken several AAU records freestyle. Sort of clued me in to just how much brain power I was dating, but, since he had a Brat Pitt physique and wore tight jeans to social functions I wasn't overly concerned.

Louis, just because a treatment is "natural" doesn't make it correct. BJ, you're right about tight shoes and long term foot damage, but again, the damage is not cancer, so your argument leaks.

Man. I had thought at first Louis must have been giving us all the hooey, and the joke would be on us when it was revealed how many of us took his medical fact seriously, but it never came. Louis, how on earth one can take the leap from tight fitting underwear to the dna mutations of cancer and still be in the near realm of physiological reality? That's the kind of magical thinking that keeps many natural medicine folks in business, but, hey, it obviously works for the "doc" who touts it, so, groove on cats and kittens, this thread's been a real trip. :D

To Inyereye: I am a research of herbs and plants used for medicine, and Doc Shulze was a student of Dr. Christopher who passed away in 1982.

I have all their herbal medicine books in my library, and I have helped many of my friends with thier protocols.

I have also applied many of their remedies to TB that have health problems.

Theres an old thread on the old board about Cancer in people that is a classic about Dr. Raymond Rife that cured people with cancer with his frequency instrument in 1932, his advisaries raided his lab and destroyed his equipment and stole his manuscripts on curing cancer.

The old way is the best and natural way to heal the body, if this thread saves just one persons life it will be a blessing.
Those without sin cast the first stone.

Maybe I should have made my statement a bit more clear.

What I meant to say (after a tremendous scolding at home) is that what I was a "pig" about enjoying was the unbridled excitement that follows a trip to the winners circle.

Louis is 100% correct!! The Bra indeed can contribute to Cancer of the Breast. It is further proven that the male hand is much more apt to feel these tumors upon regular examination. Therefore out of love for women i suggest not wearing a bra and allowing a skilled male to regularly examine you. Being qualified, i will offer this service for free to any female poster..

Can you point me to a published source or sources for that, please?

Seems to me that a bra which fits so tightly as to impede the lymphatics would probably also impair the c/v system to such an extent as to provoke gangrene or other symptoms of poor circulation. Imho, sports bras are hot and uncomfortable. There are 'regular' bras (for example, Chantelle's 'fete' model) that actually give better support and are less obtrusive.

 Sam I almost fell of my chair!! You made me laugh so hard... Thanks!

If Louis is correct I'm screwed... I used to sleep in a bra every night and then wear it all day... I was fat then though. I swear I once read that Maryilin Monroe slept in a bra... maybe that was the real reason I did it...

Louis, I am glad that these remedies are helping and that the cures are working. I will, until the day I go before my maker, laugh at anyone, if they believe that wearing a tight bra a) cuts off circulation, to begin with, and/or b) can cause breast cancer. Sorry. That theory is hogwash to me, and frankly I run across many many other theories I would consider equally magical in their thinking, every single day.

However, I do believe that many natural remedies and curse are wonderful, I am only pooh poohing this one, really. Again, sorry, I really like you and your work and contributions, I didn't mean to make you feel bad, I just had to comment on this particular theory.

OMGIH, Sam, It takes alot to make me snort coffee on my puter at work, but that was a great, great post. I feel so warm and fuzzy just knowing you are out there, making a dent in the male perception of...well, in males. God Bless you.

I barely tolerate the thing now. I've been a D-cup since I was 15 and I sleep on my stomach ... If I tried to sleep in a bra, I'd never be able to breath. Best I can tolerate are those camisoles with the built in shelves.

It's not the bra itself that I hate in the heat, it's the sweating which only makes me itch and you do that 'tuck the shirt under your boobs' thing that we all seem to inherently know (kind of like we instinctively know how to take a bra off without taking off the shirt ... Think Flashdance boys ... no one ever teaches us that, we just do it). Of course, if you DON'T wear a bra, the sweating is worse and the muscles breakdown faster.
