Sorry, I've been TVG challenged. What happened in Louisiana? Was there a racing accident, or is this in reference to the hurricane damage?

Thanks,

From DRF:
"Royal Saint, who had won all four of his Louisiana Downs starts leading up to the Super Derby, collapsed and died approaching midstretch. His rider, Guy Smith, avoided serious injuries in the spill, which did not involve other horses."

. . . . . . .probably his heart.

More than likely a heart attack. His trainer Cole Norman recently tested off the chart for bicarbonate in California earning him a ban in that state. Rumor around here is that he's pretty liberal when it comes to medication, but thats just rumor.

It appeared as if Royal Saint who was back of the leaders but making a move on the inside along the rail flipped over backwards or something....then, almsot immediately, was out of the camera view - whether intentionlly or otherwise - as it followed the race. I heard a report yesterday that he suffered an anuerism (sp?) but amazingly his jocky was unhurt, just shook up and bruised as it really did appear that the horse rolled over on him as he went down.
