Chelokee does pass the Jeanine Edwards biting test, however, if he runs in the Barbaro Stakes as seems fairly likely, he's going to find it hard to win the Preakness.

As for the vasectomy Rokeby - that's TMI, especially if you're lumped with Pete! I want those images out of my mind!!!

My prediction for the Preakness - Street Sense (or Schnozz or whatever his name is) will get covered in mud and will finish the race looking like he rolled in a puddle. Hard Spun will finish looking all shiny and there will not be a speck on his nice white bridle.

Punchdrunk Pete,

Ooooh and ahhhh all you want about Street Sense's rail move in the Derby, but he saved every bit of ground and ran a 1:37 and change mile. Could a 1:37 and change mile win any Graded stake that you can think of?

Hard Spun's 1/2 mile split from his :46 half to his 1:37 mile was in :51...I showed you a replay of Arazi's run in the BC Juvie, and you commented that it looked spectacular, but it was ordinary when you consider how slow the recorded split was...Arazi's "spectacular" split was a personal :24 or so....well, what was Street Sense's? Enquiring minds want to know what the difference is between Arazi's BC Juvie move and Street Sense's Derby move, that one was "ok" and one was "for the ages," especially when Arazi made the balcony sweep and Street Sense saved every inch of ground, and both ran roughly the same :24 personal split when they made up the same amount of ground. As you eloquently wrote,

"Arazi made his move into @:25.3 quarter and went @:24.0 (making up about 8 lengths) so it was spectacular but against a collapsing field."

Honestly, Street Sense isn't that fast. The BC Juvie and KY Derby weren't fast races. The Bluegrass was pitifully slow. He needed every bit of the rail to nose out Any Given Saturday at Tampa, who's now known as "Any Given Who?" after losing a mediocre Wood Memorial and getting drubbed in the Derby. Street Sense did break the Tampa track record that day...that was co-shared by Swayback Sam and Bowlegged Bobby.

Nobody from this crop has run a fast race this spring...every prep was pretty unspectacular. So, thus far, Street Sense has had the good fortune of being born in a mediocre year. But suppose some stranger pops up with a fast Preakness, as has been known to happen. Syonara, Street Sense....no nookie for cookie!

Corrected twice for crappy typing...LOL!

If Matz decides to run Chelokee then he's the horse to beat. He's fresh and his Florida Derby revealed him to be among the better ones in the crop. In the paddock before that race he was visually quite the most impressive and with a clean trip he would have won it. Unfortunately Dominguez headed for a hole which closed, had to check, reroute to the outside and accelerate again. Scat Daddy won and the race was considered a gold star on his resume.

The rail is to Street Sense what his blanket is to Linus Van Pelt. Without it he's lost.

Eh Rokbert,

Now did I say ‘one for the ages’ or did you. Ah, it was you wasn’t it you sneaky freaky, very naughty tryng to put words in my mouth. I never said that at all and it’s not nice to do that you know.

You’re making me laugh and you just might believe some of what you’re selling. Don’t fret yet you got six days to get another batch o’ bull ready.

But suppose some stranger pops up with a fast Preakness

This is too funny Sunny. Swayback Sam and Bowlegged Bobby perhaps?

I give you props for dreaming and scheming with absolutely no meaning.

Regards,

Punchy Pete (don’t drink enough to get drunk)

(Taking a momentary break from levity)

Yo Geo,

It's a hard spin to say that Hard Spun will have wun or is it that Hard Spin will have win? Oh it don't matter none and shiny though he may be those words for Spun will not be sung.

eh Puktuckset,

Fresh? Heck he's practically been in deep freeze storage! Matz knows that the Barbaro is where to go.

The rail is to Street Sense what his blanket is to Linus Van Pelt. Without it he's lost.

Why does the Streeter get trips he likes? Hmm, maybe because he's the best hoss.

All you gotta ask yerself is, what hoss can give me a strong half mile of set-up and then a sustained run for 4f with a burst of speed where needed. Hmmm....sounds like Linus!

I'm still looking for a wholesale price on cell phones with a pre-set dialer for the cops, need about 9 or 10 units, single use only.

Regards,

Precognative Pete

Street Sense has to win. I just booked flight for the Belmont. Besides, I'm not getting any younger -- Triple Crown this year!

Pete, you're on a roll.....if I hadn't already been pulling for Street Sense, you'd have persuaded me to do so.

Speaking of fast horses - has anybody noticed the equibase numbers quoted for the Preakness horses on the equibase home page? No way is Xchanger the fastest horse this year!

Hard Spun may win or lose but he'll look shiny and nice whatever he does.

Anyway Pete, Patuxet is right, the rail is Street Sense's blanky, all the other horses will try to get his blanky from him, and Mint Slewlep or whatever it's called will blow by them all.

Psychedelic Pete,

Can I have some of what you're smoking....I'd also like to see pink elephants fly and say, "The colors, man...the colors!"

Put words in your mouth? OK, it wasn't a direct quote...simply an interpretation, even if it's not what you wrote. Who cares...nobody reads what I write!

In the Preakness, don't look for Street Sense to pass Cowtown Cat and Scat Daddy while those two hop, skip, and jump their way back to the St. Pletcher infirmary - they're already there. Also, with a reduced sized field, Street Sense won't be the only horse in the Preakness to have a clean trip, pardner. I reckon I reckon.

Street Sense has as much chance in the Preakness as I have of getting a date with Shania Twain tonight. So it is written according to the prophecy.

May the farce be with you,
Rokalicious, the 13th Disciple

Per Equibase
Meanwhile, the connections of Teuflesberg, the 17th-place finisher in the Kentucky Derby, have decided to skip the Preakness ... Instead, the horse will be pointed to the Grade 2, $250,000 Woody Stephens Breeders' Cup Handicap on Belmont Stakes Day. The Woody Stephens is run at seven furlongs.

Also anyone wanting to watch the post position draw
* Wednesday's post position draw at the ESPN Zone in Baltimore has been moved up 30 minutes and will now be aired on ESPN2 in a one-hour show beginning at 4:30 p.m. Eastern.

All that being said -- IF Chelokee runs, I predict Chelokee winning ... but I didn't win any money Derby day so what do I know ;)
