Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.......
However, Texas is really, really far!!! LOL
Well, her race didn't go (for the 2nd time) so we might have to try her on the dirt again. Figures.....
Also, we did make a decision to run her drug free. We don't think her feet are the issue as she was hoof tested and came back 100%.
We are going to stick to our guns and run without medication. It's something we strongly believe in and we do not want to compromise our ethics.
We have always said if our horses can't run drug free than we won't run them. So, it's time to walk the walk.....
Wish us luck with this filly!!
On another note, the 2 year old is working great at home (1/2 mile track with gate) and will have her first "official" breeze at Monmouth the week following the Haskell. So, something to look forward too!!

Good for you! Just Water, Oats and Hay - not just on race day but ALL days. I will be routing for you and your filly BIG TIME!
Well, final update...
Tried to get her in on the grass almost a half dozen times and no luck.
We sent her to Penn and ran in a 5 1/2 dirt for $7500. She was the 2nd choice out of 12. As usual, she couldn't put it together and finished sixth.
She has tons of natural speed but just doesn't want to be a racehorse. She just has no "fight" or competitiveness in here.
We ran her clean as well and barefoot.
When she is working, she works bullets but come raceday she must get too stressed (and internalizes it).
She is such a sweetheart. She has been raced and trained barefoot and has legs that are as cold and tight as ever. She races drug free. She is use to be left in during the day and turned out all night. She is turned out 24/7 while racing in god weather. We have treated her like a riding horse and always required good manners. There is no reason racehorses have to be ill mannered.
So, she is a good horse to transition over to a sport horse. Did I mention she jumped a 4 1/2 foot fence while training at Camden as a 2 year old!!
My trainer was awesome and true to her word helped us find her an awesome home. Yes, we had to eat all that money we lost but we didn't charge a penny for her. Just asked the family to promise to give her a great home or return her to us if it doesn't work out.
Trainer visited the farm she would be kept at. Had the 15 year old girl out to the training center with her parents. She led my race fit 3 year old filly out of her stall. Groomed her, tacked her up, used a mounting block (for the 1st time my girl has ever seen one) and proceeded to walk, trot, and canter her around the field. My girl didn't put a hoof wrong and the match was made in heaven. She tried her several more times and within a week took her to her forever home.
It is bitter sweet but I feel good. Trainer said place is awesome. She has turn out with one or two others and grass. Fences looked safe and all horses on the property were healthy.
So, here ends our quest with our little girl we foaled out 3 years ago in our barn.
I hope she stays happy, safe, and sound.
This chapter closes but watch out for our 2 year old filly! She is looking like a monster and her yearling Cozzene sibling is only a year away from running!!!

Even with the racing disappointment, what a nice ending to her racing story and the beginning of a new chapter in her life. Good luck with your 2 yr. old and let us know on first race. My 2 yr old filly is making first start tonite but she's the nervous type so have no idea what to expect, just hoping for a clean trip.

Ditto! You sure did right by your now-retired filly! Kudos to you and your trainer for making sure she has good ground manners.
Hope you will be able to keep track of her to make sure she doesn't end up in a bad situation down the road.
