Not to be rude but, well duh!

They own Elusive Quality. Boycott totally aside, why would they pay 300K to breed their good mares when they already own a stallion that has every chance of giving them just as good a crop of foals?

hi Kimberley Mine

I appreciate your comments and observations.

Fair enough...and your assessment might very well be right on target.

Yes...but I wanted to make note that the Darley and Shadwell boys DID support Kingmambo.

Best to you.

Duh?

Reality is...the Dubai guys had a significant number of mares scheduled to visit BOTH Kingmambo and Elusive Quality in 2005...but moved the mares from Kingmambo to EQ when problems arose.

For what it's worth...they did NOT support Elusive Quality early on (as you might be aware). They have been supporting Kingmambo for a long time though and have only started to support Elusive Quality in recent years (much moreso in 2005 than ever before because of Kingmambo's problems) arguably as a result of EQ's major successes on both sides of the pond (as you know, his first crop included the Highweighted 2-yo in France (Elusive City) and his second crop included dual North American classic-winner and champion Smarty Jones. Furthermore, EQ sired no less than 19 stakes winners from his first two crops of racing age, which included a grand total of 162 named foals (per TBTimes stallion Directory).

Darley and Shadwell have been paying the big bucks to breed to Kingmambo for years...and I expect they will continue to do so (if Kingmambo is available) despite the $300k advertised stud fee...and despite the fact that Elusive Quality is all in the family.

Duh
