I remember Terry Wallace's call of a horse that ran at Oaklawn quiet a bit named Goober. He always had fun with it.

Squirtle Squirt

Like Mom Like Sons

Bag of Nails ... strange name but a good runner, and one of my favorite horses quite along time ago.

Dirt

There's a horse in England named Golden Balls. Suppose he will ever run against Silver Knockers?

There was a horse that raced here in the Northwest years ago named Toe Jam. Raced for 11 years, and made 119 starts. I thought the name was a little gross.

Thanks Pete,

Bookie Buster was a great sprinter from my old neck of the woods - Playfair (Spokane, WA) in the early-mid 1980's, and I always thought it was one of the great names. Bill From WA may remember him. He has the 6f record at Playfair, and may have actually run against Bag of Nails (mentioned above).

I just thought of another great bad name - Bad Underwear. She was a champion filly in the Dominican Republic. When you consider her breeding, the name makes more sense. (She was by Expelled, out of the mare Ucanbuyathrill)

Lil E Tee ranks pretty high up there for me. I thought he was a filly, and it was a play on "Lily Tea" at first.

I forgot about Squirtle Squirt. That's why you don't give your kids free rein to name your horses.

A bit of an offshoot but.. in the 60's there was a handicap horse who I followed through much of his career. I never missed a story on him. Perhaps a year or so later I start reading about this really good handicap horse named Twogundan. I thought, gee, this horse is as good as my favorite horse Twonegun. Then the light bulb finally goes on. I am dyslexically reading Twogundan as Twonegun. Duhh...

Fast forward 40 years later- I get even with my dyslexia and name one of my Babies, Two One Gun...
