winds i'm on a soap box concerning trainers that injure everything they touch. i'm sure ms. pitts is a very nice person with lot's of support. but, is that the question???

as to ms. pitts, peas to the pod, i've yet to see her keep a major horse running and suspect without being positive that the Curlin's connections knew exactly what they were doing when they moved the horse. if i'm wrong, apologies to ms. pitts.

With regard to Asmussen's suspension i know nothing about it, and it sounds as if neither do you. does this fellow really impress you as someone that would intentionally endanger their license? i'd like to know the details before inferring the guy is an ax murderer.

Your comments are exactly what I was talking about on this message board. Unfounded opinions of hard working men and woman in the industry. To try to mount a defense for either of the people you have attacked would lend credence to your comments, I certainly won't do it. You will never hear me talk about anyone if it isn't true and been in print in the bloodhorse and DRF. It isn't that I can't talk about some trainers off the record, but I definately would not do it in a public forum. The man got suspended for 6 months, period. So you counter with knocking two hard working people in the business. Everyone in this business will get suspended sooner or later, mistakes do happen--the wrong horse gets treated, contaminated feed, vet treats the same horse twice, etc. These infractions wil get you 10-15 days, some 30 days. But once again I have to repeat, 6 months is a long time and isn't dished out to very many trainers without good reason. I'm sure you can google Mr. Asmussen and find out the details, but they just don't matter under trainer responsibility rules.
My last comment to you, don't try to tell me I don't know anything about the Asmussen suspension, it sounds like you are the one that was unaware of it. I never inferred he was an ax murderer, those are your words and I don't appreciate your comparison. So you can go mount a crusade in defense of Asmussen's 6 month suspension, but as for me our conversation is ended. TJ

That's the business, Winds. If a known name purchased Smarty Jones after he broke his maiden and almost won the TC with him, they'd say, "What a genius!" The fact that John Servis almost won it is kinda forgotten.

Exactly... as the old racetrack saying goes "a good horse is dangerous even in the hands of an idiot"

Curlin is a "stone runner" as anyone could see the day he broke his maiden. I saw Bernardini break his maiden at GP last winter and thought he was the best horse on the card that day... a card that included Funny Cide... Corinthian...... First Samurai and Honey Ryder among a host of other top horses. Still, Bernadini stood out among all these despite just being a lowly maiden race. It was the way he did it that was so impressive. When Curlin broke his maiden I thought it was equal to Bernardidni's performance which is really saying something. Curlin is a flat out runner no matter who trains him.

What else has Tom Albertrani ever come up with? You'd think that after developing Bernardini, the Sheikh would support him a little better - unless the Sheikh has and nothing ever panned out.

I remember when Billy Mott used to boss Albertrani around. LOL!

As I stated earlier, I don't know Helen Pitts, though everyone tells me I've met her at least once. But the people I know that like her and root for her wouldn't if she was someone who knowingly was abusive to her horses with drug use.

So, to say what you did about her, I thought was unfair. She is the one who took her time with Curlin when he was 2 and didn't run him until he was 3. The horse was sold and they took him from her and gave Curlin to S.A.

Not a fair shake, and I know that's part of business.
