OKay I would like to throw something out there for everyone to think about while they are glorifing RA.
Look at the type of field she ran against in the Oaks, Hell look at what shes ran against in her last races and has it ever amounted to the horses that were competing in the derby?
The field size is going to matter. The fact that she will be carring less weight, which I dont understand. is going to matter. ( if shes running with the boys and the feminist out there want it to be equal, have her carry the same weight)
You want to know how Curlin lost to Rags-- she carried less than he did.
To say that RA is going to blow them away. I am going to disagree. Has she ever brought her " A GAME" two weeks after she ran?

1. that's why they play the game. nothing has ever been decided on a message board. I have an opinoin, and it's nothing more than that until they go out and prove it one way or the other

2. Rags won becuase she was 3 weeks fresher than curlin and more importantly, becuase the jockey (John V) was in that race, tactfully smarter than curlin's jockey (robby A). c urlin's fatal flaw is he hated being on the inside of other horses. Rags is bigger than curlin. the second Rags creeped up side to curlin and pinne dhim inside, the race was over.

The best horse doesn't always win ... maybe not even 'most of the time'.

Remember Winning Colors and Fort Niner? Forty Niner was clearly (in my opinion) the better horse, but pace (WC was lone speed) and post position (FN came from way outside) made the difference. Woody Stephens was going to have none of that in the Preakness, and he instructed Pat Day to make sure the filly did not have things her own way in the Preakness. The rest, as they say, is history. I sincerely hope we do not see a repeat of that, this year ...

baffert is not that vendictive, allen's horse doesn't have the running style and the new shooters could care less.

In the Belmont, Curlin ran the entire mile and a half on the inside, and when he and RTR engaged at the head of the stretch, it was head to head pretty much the entire length. I think she outran him. Very hard fought race. Did she ever run again, by the way?
