He does look to me as though he's going to grey - check out the grey hairs on the eyelids, and the very slight roaning beginning on his back and upper ribs. Many familes have greys who are born black as ink, then slowly grey out, some much slower than others. Usually there will be silver hairs in the inner layers of the tail as another giveaway.

I saw him. He's covered with grey hairs. Handsome colt, though.

I hope we get to see him race a lot to watch him change colors. Maybe his tail will go first . . . . love watching the dark horses with the "white" tails come flying down the stretch . . . .

Painting Shadows is awesome-looking! Wow!

Igor won on the 23rd at Golden Gates in a 1 mile dirt claiming. His record is 36(7-6-6) $70,073, unless he ran sometime in August.

Don't know if anyone posted this guy along the way, but he's on CANTER NE right now:

He's in the database as dkb/br, but he's clearly black to me and not seal brown...

For what it's worth, both All Around Town & Minnestota Pitch are regsitered dark bay.

Who was it had that 'Genetic Testing Man!' graphic? That thing was great.

All Around Town has an older picture:
http://canterusa.org/newengland/sale/images-salehorses/AllAroundTown.jpg

he looks less black in that picture, but still looks pretty black.

Sunday Silence,
Are you keeping a list of blacks for which you have or have seen pictures and verified that they are black? If so I'd be curious to get a list of their names... I'm sorta casually investigating how different shades of bay are inherited and I need to know who carries a vs A...

All Around Town looks blacker than Six Perfections and Songster. Oh, brother.

When I was at Hoosier Park Saturday night a man was telling me they had to submit their mare six times to the JC for being black. The JC made it almost impossible to register her as such and it was alot of hassle. They were telling me she is so black and doesn't even get reddish in the summer.

Why does the JC have such a beef with registering true black horses as black?

Nerd: I am doing the ones I know are registered black after seeing it in writing--Three Mysteries, Derby Day Hope, Medieval Salute, etc. First it's word of mouth then I download track entries and see what the JC registers their color as.
