The Belmont Thread...No Barbaro or Bernardini Allowed

Postby austique » Sun Jun 04, 2006 9:10 pm

Okay the field:
Bluegrass Cat
Bob and John
Double Galore (Possible)
Deputy Glitters
Hemingway's Key
High Finance
Jazil
Oh So Awesome
Platinum Couple
Sacred Light
Sunriver
Steppenwolfer

As stated before if I'm playing a ticket (which I'm not cause we can't gamble here, but we can hula), I'd play Bob and John, Bluegrass Cat (shudders), Steppenwolfer, and cause Sam is controlling my mind via her microwave Sunriver. Big bomb ticket would go to Platinum Couple just cause he's pretty

Silly rabbit--because the horse didn't earn enough to get Zito in the Derby after he had 5 horses go that last time.

Zito is a media whore. He's very needy. I like that in a man

Fine move, austique! The original thread did get... well... hijacked!!

Let's hope we can get George and GSV, Bill and conduit mare profile and IIbean from Goldmine/VGS to weigh in with their selections.

I can't handle wimps. Or as a friend put it "I was born with a (insert slang name for a cat), I don't need him." The ex was a MAJOR wimp in HS (cutting the guy some slack .. emotionally and physically abusive stepfathers .. yes, that was an intentional plural). I even told him when we were 18 I would not get involved with him until he got away from the stepdad and grew a spine. So he joined the service.

I am reminded of that "be careful what you wish for" adage.

BTW ... is it possible to hijack your own thread?

THIS WAS NOT MY FAULT this time 8)

BILL! Help us out here. Tell us about conduits (and how much you love Sunriver  )

Bluegrass Cat
Bob and John
Double Galore (Possible)
Deputy Glitters
Hemingway's Key
High Finance
Jazil
Oh So Awesome
Platinum Couple
Sacred Light
Sunriver
Steppenwolfer

Hmmmm...

If it keeps pouring like this, then box Bob and John and Jazil as they've shown that they like running in sloppy New York. Yeah, I know the Big Sandy and the Big A aren't the same track. But they liked the slop and the dirty water hot dogs and the long lines to go see lady liberty. Bet Deputy Glitters scratches if it's muddy.

Sunriver has shown some talent, but needs to step up to take this one. Same with Sacred Light.

Oh So Awesome: when was the last time Team Valor had a big-time 3yo colt in the US? Bueller.... Bueller.... Bueller....

Bluegrass Cat ran hard and well in the Derby, but I think he'll be gasping for air at the furlong pole.

Steppenwolfer...I have no clue about this horse, and that is not intended as a slight to him in the least.

Platinum Couple, Double Galore, Hemingway's Key, High Finance: Nobody here interest me all that much.

Hi

Sam, here goes. From my point of view the possibles with the best profiles to successfully navigate the 12 furlongs are: Sunriver, Steppenwolfer, Platinum Couple, and Oh So Awesome. This is just the starting point for me. I'll delve further when the PP draw is made and I get a look at the DRF. Welcome back Siegy.

hi guys...and regards back to you siegy

Other than kimberley mine seemingly giving Jazil a shot (in the Belmont) only if it keeps "pouring" in New York...

...why do so few seem to be taking him very seriously?

I like Jazil -- I liked him in the Derby and he ran a credible fourth. As always, I won't even "look" at the race until a couple of days before. Waiting for final entries and weather forecast.

Hi FOS et al,

This is the weather report I was looking at:

http://www.wunderground.com/US/NY/New_York.html

While 30% chance all week isn't necessarily pouring, and the weatherguessers are usually completely WRONG when it comes to me handicapping anything of importance, that's still a prediction of rain all week. That implies that there will be at least a little water, and possibly a great deal, in that track. Since Saturday forecasts made on Sunday night usually aren't all that great, I'll reevaluate that list as we get closer. Right now, though, it looks like a potential soup bowl.

I like Jazil. On a wet track, I like him a lot as he showed a fantastic closing kick in a Louisiana bayou gone north for the winter. On a dry track, I put him in the same category as Steppenwolfer...a nice horse and I have no clue what to do with him. Bet him? Toss him? Might come down to who is most smartly turned out that day.
