Pretty cool, no? I'm sure the Pons brothers are over the moon (pardon the pun!) up at Country Life Farm here in Maryland.

Could be Malibu Moon is going to be one of the those quiet sires - like Slew City Slew - who just keep getting top racers anf then suddenly someone says...

How does he do that!!! like years later. :D

Maybe so. He's got seven racing today and the big story is Declan's Moon returning to the track. He's in the first at Hollywood today, going 6.5f in an AOC. I like to cheer on Malibu's progeny...

Malibu Moon has a pedigree of speed and early maturing. If MM had a pedigree of stamina and late maturing I would understand his success in the middle and late stages of his stud career.

Any stallion that has fired more blanks than producing those clusters of superior runners is not a leading stallion.

He's hardly considered a failure, Louis............by most breeding experts anyway. He's done very well given is MD beginnings and he's only had a few crops (8% stakes winners is pretty darn good) You consider his pedigree early speed? LOL He's by AP Indy .........

I dont consider MM a failure, I say MM is a middle of the road stallion.

If MM was a top stallion the Japanese would have imported him to Japan where the purses are rico.

Bet his fee goes to $75,000 next year  I think Malibu Moon is a solid horse, but he's not been consistent with top class runners (probably due to the mares he saw early on). Its hard to say where he fits right now. He's definitely getting good opportunities in KY and it'll be fun to see how it pans out.

Fair enough, Louis - I think he's proved he can get a good horse. Now what he does with his KY crops remains to be seen; I'm looking forward to it.

I have placed Successful Appeal and Malibu Moon on my watch list, as those stallions will move from C mares to A mares.

Like you posted Betsy those stallions will bear watching.

Years ago Fleet Nasrullah left Calif. and went from C mares to A mares in Ky. and didnt get the positive results that everybody expected.
