Is A.P. Indy having a good year? Bernardini, Bluegrass Cat and Steppenwolfer.
With Bluegrass Cat's victory in the Haskel, any thoughts on a Bernardini/Bluegrass Cat matchup in 3 weeks at the Travers? Might turn into an interesting 3yo HOY campaign.

Don't forget Suave, Teammate, and Master Command--that's 3 more GSWs. Then there's the erratic but talented AP Warrior. And his Azeri-progeny is in utero so he got the job done when Storm Cat couldn't. Also his son Jump Start has a filly I just created a thread about--Jump On In. People might start thinking I really like this filly if I don't shush. So AP Indy's not only the sire of top horses this year, he's a grandpappy of some promising youngsters and is daddy to be on a horse by a HOY out of an HOY (wow that I just realized that). I always did like that horse and remember being so upset when he couldn't make the Derby. He's bred like royalty and is following through on the track and in the shed. This is the kind of horse everybody dreams of breeding.
I am eating up the idea of anybody keeping up with Bernardini. We are so lucky this year. We really are. Does anybody not appreciate the depth of the 3yo group when we have horses like Barbaro, Bernardini and horses challenging their supremacy? 2 amazing horses was good but more? Wow. And we don't even have Stevie Wonderboy, Brother Derek, or Lawyer Ron back on track yet.

Bluegrass Cat/Bernardini
You're all over this, Heidilady. Very good. Actually, I like Bluegrass Cat's chances against Bernardini - if it happens at The Travers. Todd Pletcher sounded very high on him after today's race. I think they may avoid each other, though, until the Breeder's Cup.
I think the world of Bernardini - he's the most beautiful horse I've ever seen; he floats over the track (what a beautiful, smooth stride he has) and he's got such ability. I really think he can become a great one; his Jim Dandy gave me chills.
Bluegrass Cat shocked me today; I'd always seen him as rather one-paced. Today he ran lights out. He'll give Bernardini a test, I think, but I just believe the other colt is very, very special.......he could be a great one in the making. Part of the reason I have such confidence in him is because he's so versatile; he can win on the lead or just off it, win on a fast or sloppy track. Sports is all about the best beating the best - I'm looking forward to the Travers very much.
I'm pleasantly surprised by Jump Start - I thought he'd be a good sire, but I wasn't sure how his 2 year olds would do. Thus far, he's had six winners -Early Vintage looks really good and Jumponin was amazing. She was geared down and ran in 1:03 and change.
I was thrilled at Suave's last performance, especially since it showed he's back in form. I guess he just didn't like Florida.
Don't talk about AP Indy's non-Derby to me, lol. That is the most crushing moment (when I found out he'd been withdrawn) I've had in racing; I will never forget it.

A.P. Warrior
Somehow I all of a sudden got TVG, or some of it on a channel that used to be ESPN. I saw A.P. Warrior run an excellent race in the La Jolla at Del Mar in his first on the turf. He was pushed hard but did not give up.

Steppenwolfer is by Aptitude.

hi jagger
I suggest that Silver Train (by A.P.Indy son Old Trieste) is another impressive racehorse with an A.P. Indy connection.
As you know, he won the 2006 G1-Met Mile (to add to his resume which includes a victory in the '05 G1-BC Sprint).

Since we're doling out praise to this sire line, let's raise a glass for Seattle Slew!
Slew's final foal Maggie Slew has run two good seconds in graded company, and his best son at stud AP Indy is carrying on the sire line admirably.
This could be one of the last years we get to see Slew's direct offspring on the track.

Please do share! I haven't heard anything about a film... and since she's an Indiana bred I'd LOVE to know more about it. I haven't heard any buzz from the Swifty group...

Well it was on television awhile back and we Tivo'ed it but it's gone now. It was the story of Maggie Slew, called "The Last Foal" and mostly filmed at Swifty Farm.
I meant to get it to VCR and then to DVD but Tivo deleted it before I got the chance. I checked and Netflix doesn't seem to have it.
