Bellamy Road Retired

I hate the TC and TC trail. Talented horses get hurt and horses that peak at the right time get labeled as the next superstar.
I know a lot of people don't like arguing over who a horse beat, in this example, we can!
2nd- Survivalist, he hasn't really gotten it together since his big win in the Gotham. Was that as good as it was going to get for him?
3rd- Scrappy T, 2nd in the Preakness, tried to take out Afleet Alex, has done some running, sitting on the fence about him. They are being "conservative" with him, he needs to run, but I think he is just too big and (maybe) heavy to stay sound.
4th- Galloping Grocer, hasn't been the same since him and Rockport Harbor eye-balled each other. Of course, he may have just been a good 2-year-old.
5th- Naughty New Yorker, nothing stellar, but he's solid.
6th-Pavo, hasn't done anything of note.
7th- Going Wild, ruined by the TC, he WAS a nice horse.
So, I don't know about anyone else, but I just never thought Bellamy Road was "great". Yes, he flat out ran in his Wood and he was big and fast, but I don't see the appeal to breeders.

Has he done anything, period? I don't think I've seen him since that race. At least not in stakes company.

Size matters, even when it shouldn't. I never thought he was "great" but I did think he was brilliant and brilliant speed attracts breeders, at least for a little while. I also think he'd get a better book of mares for $7,500 in FL than he will at $10k in KY.
im a huge yankee fan...just love the yankee stuff you got up...anyways i agree ....7500 in florida would be a much more prudent move

hi Sam
Bull's-eye. To those who have doubts...I suggest (for example) try and sell a small but well-made weanling...or yearling...or stallion prospect...then let's talk. Yes there are exceptions...but in general...I agree with Sam's comment that "Size matters."
Bull's-eye again...at least from my perspective.
Respectfully

Hi Madlyn,
Complaining about 10k?
We will see?
Regard's Siegy,
Flora is beginning of biology, chemistry is master.
Hi Folks,
Splints and suspensory are not elements of a 'natural born' cripple.
I think he'll have some appeal even with his less than commercial pedigree although I feel that being at a new farm that's trying to build a clientele won't help.
Step back from him for a minute and look at his credentials:
G3 winner at 2, G1 winner and classic placed at 3 in only 7 races. Having been the favorite in the Derby doesn't hurt either.
Sam,
Does the Yankee logo mean that you're a fan?
Regards,
Pete

Hi Sam,
I was a die hard Met fan (since the beginning in 1962) and I hated the Yankees. I softened towards them after the WS loss to the Dodgers in the late 1970s and became a backer during the Mattingly years. By the 2000 Subway Series I found picking a favorite difficult - so I just enjoyed it.
The defining moment for me was "The Play" in the 2001 playoffs vs the Athletics at home plate on Jeremy Giambi (and the very next play when Jeter streaked past Brosius to make the catch only to fall into the photographers box). At that moment Derek Jeter (I already held him in the highest esteem) turned me into a Yankee fan.
So now I'm a pinstripes guy, still difficult to get my head around after a childhood spent loathing them. I still like the Mets, watch and root for them but Jeter made me a believer after almost 40 years. Go Yankees!
Regards,
Pete
