I didn't think the Jockey Club allowed the word "horse" in a name. Or stallion, colt, filly, etc.
isn't that why there are Hosses? :?:

I got curious so I went and looked--my (sarcasm) "faves" are Horsesanddivorces, Horsey Jones, and Horsewithsixnames. Some just have horse as part of a word but mostly it's on its own. Some of these make me wanna go adopt the horse and never let anyone call it this name ever again.

Horse Chestnut (SAf) is both a name, a tree, and a pun. The Horse Chestnut is native to Asia, bears a fruit suitable for livestock feed but not people, and has very tough and sturdy wood. Horse Chestnut the stallion is a chestnut horse. Ba-dump ching.

So much for the different plays on "horse" but I thought this colt was impressive. He certainly is the best looking Mr. Greeley I've ever seen.

Rules for naming include avoiding use of the names HORSE, FILLY, etc., but only at the end of the name. And remember, Horse Chestnut is also born to a different country's stud book, likely with somewhat different rules, since he was born in South Africa.

A yearling by Mr. Greeley sold for $5.7 million today at Keeneland. That's a lot of money for a horse no matter how it's spelled.

The South African rules ARE different. There is a Gr-1 winning Argentine-bred stayer named Fantastic Horse running over there. I think he was champion stayer in the last few years.
