Seriously after Kent nearly ended up in the dirt no thanks to Willie Martinez I thought the attempt to re-rally was pretty impressive but he just got so worn out trying and didn't miss by a whole heck of a lot. Too bad the cameras couldn't catch the foul on the turn too well or they'd have had the evidence to take Ball Four down and move Perfect Drift up. Wouldn't have given Premium Tap what he deserved but there'd have been a little justice.
I like this plucky lil horse. That was a pretty nasty check and he didn't lose his will to win this one. Hopefully he still heads to the Classic.

Out of curiosity were you there or just watching it on tv like me? The stewards didn't make that call because they could see one way or the other, it was specifically because they couldn't that the result was allowed to stand--not because Desormeaux was in the wrong by trying to go through the hole. They just couldn't tell. The stewards really need more camera angles there.
Kent even said sometimes the hole was open, sometimes it wasn't. Of course that alone shoulda been a clue 'hey genius don't go through just yet'...doesn't mean Martinez is in the right... if anything it means both jocks did something very stupid. Jerry Bailey seemed to side with Kent in the tv coverage but really nobody knows, not even the stewards, therefore no DQ.

I watched it on TV just like you and i agree if you had more angles it would of helped the stewards in there decision making. But ive watched the replay several times and i still say Kent was in the wrong. I say it was more bad luck than being in the wrong. Sometimes those things happen in horse racing.

Kent was being a "hotdog" . . . . and blew it!!!!!! And don't get me wrong I like Kent . . . . . . . but he does like to live dangerously.

Do you think they outta change riders? And do you think Perfect Drift will go to the Classic off of this race?
Obviously if he doesn't, Julien Leparoux would be free if he'd meant to stay before. I figure though that PD could still go. He's got this obsession with running 2nd and 2nd place in the Classic is big bucks.
