Alligator MEAN!

Postby Toccet02 » Mon Oct 02, 2006 8:16 pm

:)

Anyone know this horse?
Belmont yesteday 10/1
Kept freezing, then practically bucked like a rodeo horse, then appeared to take off with the jock (in the warmup), running wildly, totally out of control.
Unfortunately, finished either last or basically last.
But entertaining.
New gelding.
Don't think it's working yet, guys!

we were watching this, too. i believe the jock was chantel sutherland(?). the comments in his past performances referenced post parade antics in three prior races. i thought she did a good job just staying on and not ending up on her bottom in the mud (or worse). the horse shows talent but his post parade manners leave a bit to be desired.

she did a GREAT job...he wasn't kidding around. Looked like he really wanted her OFF.
It wastes so much energy though. He really ran poorly after all that.
Maybe the gelding will have an effect...eventually.

The scene in the paddock was humorous as well - as soon as she got on, he decided that he wasn't going to be moving. The groom was yanking on him, Sutherland was doing her part, Alligator Mean was just hanging out. She eventually dismounted, at which point he was okay with being led out to the track. After the post parade (and after he gave up removing Sutherland), when most horses are agreeable with an easy canter to the gate, he broke into a four furlong sprint!
