For all you Jersey Breds...report out today that The Meadowlands & Monmouth to get synthetic racing surface. Officials & trainers met with Michael Dickinson who demonstrated his tapeta surface for both harness & thoroughbred racing. Thoughts ?

what is a taffeta, uh, Tapeta, racing surface made of?

"...wax coated sand, rubber & other fibers ". But here's the thing...the other headline is that the NJSEA is reducing it's staff by 20%, a saving of some $3 million in payroll, just before the breeders cup comes to town. So is the staff reduction to pay for the new surface even though revenue is way off for the past 5 yrs. or is this just a way to pay for a new football stadium / destruction of the old one, or is something else going on that I'm not picking up on.

It is another form of polytrack.

Whatever the political motives, it looks to be an improvement for the horses that will run there.
