Death of a true Legend

Postby wilf » Fri Dec 22, 2006 6:57 pm

This is posted for the good of any true racing fan! Yesterday , Arthur"Scobie" Breasley passed away at the age of 92, in Melbourne, Australia! A gentleman in every sense of the word, Scobie was a household name in racing circles in Australia, Britain and France having ridden the winner of the English Derby twice, firstly at age fifty on Santa Claus.......the irony of which has not escaped me.He also rode Ballymoss to victory in the Arc De Triomphe in the 50's. One fact that astounded me was that he actually rode in the Melbourne Cup won by the amazing Phar Lap.!!! A true statesman of the turf!

Wilf,
A nice post and thanks for letting us know. I had no idea he was still alive.
