does anyone know anything about suffolk downs being sold? I heard that a couple of partners bought it and that there will be racing in New England for the next couple of years. Same with getting the slots?

Hey Sue,
Don't know about Mrs Mosley selling her shares,, but it wouldnt be a bad business move by any means..
Gov Romney has until Midnight tonight to sign in the simulcast bill or something like that.. which I dont know if it's going to happen. He isnt exactly known for "burning the midnight oil", and try to get a politicion to work sunday...
the mosleys' gave up on NE racing a long time ago. She ships in one or two ringers a year, and no one bats a eyelash.. I'd sell if I was her.. Suffolk is prime Boston real estate.

I was at Suffolk for years. The situation got steadily worse when they couldnt agree with Rockingham. Why dont they cut a deal, R has a beautiful turf course and they only have jugheads over there! Shopping malls are all over the place, and coming closer! They used to have events there like concerts, cirque de soliel, etc why cant they make money that way. I really wish Romney would say yes to the slots, I mean I understand his religion but, he agrees to some pretty unbarred bills and won't allow more money in mass? The whole third floor of the clubhouse is empty and ready for the vlts!!!
by the way I was wondering if you were part of the hpba and had a list of members? Because "sufferin downs" is my old haunt I want to tell all my old buds about my new stud Eltish! There really isnt anything left in Mass and NY has great incentives and its not far! Let me know if you are interested too! Thanks i appreciate it!

As of today, Romney has no say in the matter.
The new governor has said he's been anti-slots - but also admitted being undereducated on the pro-slots side, and said he was planning to look into it further before taking a definitive stand. So there's a bit of hope, but I'm not letting myself get too excited.
