fu peg on fire down under

Postby wallinga » Fri Mar 30, 2007 8:57 pm

Fusaichi Pegasus, the biggest nut bag nuffy stallion is having a blinder at Rosehill, he's had Tipungwuti win the Gr 2 Tulloch Stks (Has had his knackers knocked out) and mighty Haradasun just gave him his first southern Group One winner in the George Ryder (he was on the wrong leg all the way)

He has Just Dancing in the Arrowfield group one, she'll struggle and Zizou in the slipper, this could be an outstanding day for this stallion.

Haradasun looks the real deal, he's just got to get his head in the game and he'll beat any horse in the world up to from a mile to two thousand.

I too was impressed by his race. I only wish HRTV gave the carnival more live coverage! They certainly advertised it enough in the last few weeks.

Fu Peg figured to cross well on all that Northern Dancer blood down under. He might end up staying there!!

Looking forward to watching the Golden Slipper in a bit. More than ironic that Rory's Jester, who won the race 23 years ago, just passed away this week

What does 'has had his knackers knocked out' mean? I can think of one possible interpretation, but I'd like to be sure.

Hey Geo! Would you like to know what having your "knackers knocked out" means from first hand experience? Meet up with Dray and me at Saratoga and we'll show ya...people that are 5' 2" don't intimidate us! Ha!

It would be a lot cheaper if someone would just tell me.

Well just dancing showed her Fu Pegishness when coasting up to contest the lead then fading, and Zizou just couldn't get past Forensics in the slipper.

She's by Flying Spur who won the slipper in 95 and he is having a phenomenal 2yo season, he's superbly bred, closely related to coolmores star Encosta De Lago from that fantastic Fanfreleuche family.

Forensics is well named too, out of 'prove it'

Also, for those of you tuning in to Dubai later, Blutigeroo, a horse that was thumped by Pompei Ruler in the Australian Cup, won the 2million BMW. Pompei Ruler takes on Lava Man and Miesques Approval in the Dubai Duty free... he's the sole Aussie entrant but he's a weapon.

Incidentally, having his knackers removed, means Tipungwuti is no longer an entire

Fu Peg has one more group one runner, Shirl Pegasus, definite chance in the queen of the turf at each way, but may find Divine Madonna hard to toss

Well Geo, that saves Dray and me a chore...you were born without knackers, so there are none to knock out. LOL!

Wallinga----what's the word on Grass Wonder down under? Have you seen any of his foals run yet? Any comments or insight greatly appreciated.
best regards Brendan

He only has two year olds on the ground at the moment, to date I think he has one provincial winner from a handful of runners.

I think he'll be a good sire, the test will be if Eliza Park persevere with him as a commercial prospect.

He looks the type to produce later maturing horses and in the most competitive juvenile market in the world, that wasn't going to see him produce outstanding results with his first two year olds.

The other thing to remember is that he retired to Australia in the same season as Rock Of Gibraltar, Johannesburg, Hussonet, Elusive Quality and local stars Bel Esprit and Choisir. So he was never going to get the top echelon of mares, despite his obvious talent.

He also stands outside the hunter valley, an area akin to Kentucky over here (infact outside of Kentucky, the Hunter has more horses per hectare than anywhere in the world) so that is another black mark against him.

On the plus side, he's a beautiful long bodied horse, with a great race record and from that Roberto sireline that is the Duck's nuts as an outcross to both Northern Dancer and our other prolific influence Star Kingdom!

His yearlings weren't big, but having said that, how do you compete with fast maturing Danehill descendants owned by the big studs, their yearlings look like four year olds!

His horses do have classic aspirations and most of the big stables have one, so over the next few years, don't be surprised if a few Grass Wonders pop up in the big money middle distance and staying events where we have a dearth of quality bloodstock (Blutigeroo, who won yesterdays two and a half million dollar BMW over 2400m is a glorified country cups horse!)

It's the sad state of our industry that breeders in Australia spend 100's of millions of dollars trying to breed the winner of one 3.5 million dollar race. While a considerably smaller amount is spent on trying to win 30+ million dollars worth of Group one races at 2000m and above
