Anyone wondering why CQ is coming into the race off such a long layoff when there were so many big money preps with week fields to choose from. Well through trial and error I think Dr. Pletcher has got it fiqured out.
As for never going beyond a 1 1/16, don't worry come derby day he'll be able to win the Tour de France.

He's my current favorite as well. I like the fact he raced at CD and won as a two year old. He's seasoned and fresh. Provided he stays healthy he'll be a contender on Derby day and his sire won both the Derby and Belmont so the distance won't be a factor.
Curlin is a VERY talented animal BUT he's having to be hurried into the race and it may catch up with him. We'll see.

I can't think of a horse running in the KY Derby that has four starts this year.
Some have only four or five starts lifetime.
As poorly conditioned for 1 1/4 mile as this collective field will be, I don't see why a horse off an 8 week layoff can't win. I don't see why any horse in the race can't win, for that matter.

Teuflesberg is the first horse I don't think belongs in a two turn race of any length, yet the horse has heart and he keeps pulling out results far beyond his pedigree. He also has an innate talent for tripping over his feet when he comes out of the gate, something he has done in over fifty percent of his races.
Teuflesberg is the only contender I can think of that has many starts. The next one down in terms of numbers of starts might in fact be Street Sense himself who I believe might have as many as six starts total. He took a while to build up to his B.C. success.
