Mongoose Gold
Did anybody see that on TVG? Wow I thought she was gonna dig in for a game second and she just came digging back and got it. By Mongoose out of a Strike the Gold mare so I was already enjoying her.
Good girl, that was fun to watch.

hello Heidilady...hi Rok
I've looked at MANY 2-yos recently, and the other day I saw one in particular that looked VERY special...at least to my eye. She definitely had a star-quality about her and carried herself in a fashion that could arguably deliver goose bumps. Maybe Mongoose-bumps is a better description...because that's who I was told this GRAND and impressive filly was by.
It was a filly that stood out (to my way of thinking) BIG-time. She was tall, had good length, plus a strong beautifully sloping shoulder and an impressive caboose. She was VERY correct with lots of bone, but NOT a particularly feminine...cutesy-type filly. For lack of a better description, she was simply GRAND.
She was a VERY fluid mover; and arguably the kind that could draw a lot of attention when she galloped. She also had the kind of BIG walk and a dominant way about her that I rarely see in a 2-yo filly. As you might imagine...I found her special to look at...WOW.
She looked (to me anyway) like she's designed to handle the best competition at the premier tracks...and exuded the confidence and poise that I might expect to see in a seasoned campaigner.
For what it's worth...Mongoose (to my way of thinking) is not the extremely leggy Broad Brush that I have so often seen; but rather a stronger less elevated Broad Brush...with quite a rugged way about him (physically).
He was a VERY good racehorse (winning from 7 furlongs as a 2-yo at Saratoga...to a mile and an eighth as a four-year-old, when he won the $500,000 G1-Donn Handicap)...but has become a gypsy of sorts as a stallion, having moved from Kentucky to Florida and farm to farm over a relatively short period of time.
Regardless...I was convinced that he's got at least one out there (and for his connections' sake, hopefully more) that looks to be potentially VERY special.
Respectfully

Hi FOS,
What's her name? (I read your post twice to see if I had missed it).
Mongoose may be getting good looking specimens but so far they're not doing much running.
I assume that you've seen Mongoose in person (I've not) and from your description his Stallion Register photo doesn't do him justice where he seems leggy and plain.
Regards,
Pete
