Southwestern Heat, 2nd in Hirsch Jacobs

Postby Heidilady » Sat May 19, 2007 10:39 am

Southwestern Heat managed to get second in the Hirsch Jacobs after busting a gut but having Street Magician squeeze up through the rail to beat him by a length or so. Literally SM squeezed because SH drifted in a bit just as he tried to go up on the rail and a little bouncing around happened with horses and rail. If SM hadn't won anyway they'd have taken SH down. Still he made mama proud. Is the Hirsch Jacobs still G3? Or did it get demoted? It's still down as G3 in our database but I didn't know if it still was.

According to the Blood-Horse, it's still a G3. :)

Yay! Graded stakes placed producer for our girl! I bet that Storm Cat's looking a little better. They paid around 125K for him right?

I was thrilled to See Xtra Heat's boy smoke around the track just like she used to -- even if he did come up short at the end. It was a thriller. Hope he goes on to learn to harness his speed just a bit and stay in graded stakes company. No doubt Mama called him (via trainer's cell phone) to give him a tip or two for next time and to tell him she's damn proud of him.

Can't have too many Heats on the track! :-)
