Hi,
Now that we have a filly in the mix as well, can anyone talk about her times and distances compared to the boys and how much weight she will carry? Is she a big filly?
How does Rags to Riches times and distances compare to boys

I for one think it's very sporting of Dr. Pletcher to put her in and would get a kick out of her winning. I think she will carry 121lbs to the boys 126.
Her Beyers seem to be inline with the others in the race. As to her size don't know. Hey did you know fillies in Dubai have to wear a Burqua when they race colts.

Only the third filly to accomplish the feat, the first in 100 years. No guts no glory... I applaud the connections. Still think she should have been in the Derby.

Todd Pletcher has finally gotten under my skin. The filly has absolutely zero chance in that race. What is the point here? You can only hope the jock quickly understands the filly is without any Belmont training and runs appropriately. I feel sorry for the horse. Let's just pray she makes it through.

Correction. She's bred to get 12f in something representing real racehorse time. So is Hard Spun, so is Tiago.
EVERY horse can go 12f... it's just a matter of can they do it faster than someone else and that is conditioning, not breeding.
I don't like her chances, I think this was a stupid move by all involved and have not yet figured out why people are so high on this mare in this race or why people are so adamant that you run a filly against colts period.
As far as Curlin only having 5 starts (because I know Roke keeps throwing this up). That is an absolute and y'all know how I feel about absolutes. People love to say a horse doesn't have the foundation strictly based on number of starts. The FACT is horses are individuals and some learn a hell of a lot faster than others. 5 races may be light on foundation for one horse (FuPeg) and just right for another.
I think Curlin can win, but it's going to take a HELL of a lot out of him if he does -- it may take a lot out of him if he loses depending on the performance -- so I don't expect to see him again until late August, if not September, regardless of where he finishes Saturday. If he comes back too soon, he'll be a shell of the horse he was prior to the Derby.
You guys keep discounting Hard Spun... I'll get better odds that way.
