Ascot Gold Cup

Postby Bill from WA » Sun Jun 17, 2007 9:08 am

Do any of you give the mare Montare a chance against Yeats and the rest of the boys in this years Gold Cup at Ascot? She looks to be able to handle the 20 furlong distance from a pedigree point of view. I'm looking forward to watching. The defending champion Yeats will be tough to beat.

Well, 20f are a "long way to Tipparary", where much can happen and Yeats is at odds-on - perhaps not good value-for-money? So Montace (116 RPR on her Prix Royal Oak-victory) is not out.

Off course I hope, the German horse Le Miracle will show a good performance. He was 3rd in the "Cadran" in October, where he made most of the early running, so an improvement is necessary. Let's hope for a rainy Thursday - sorry Ladies with big hats 8) - Monsun's kids like soft/heavy going.

For the records: Yeats won impressively and was never in danger although 2f from home some 6 horses were in line.

The race can be seen at youtube.

A happy gambler had a single bet at 4/5 with a stake of GBP 100,000!
