One of the foals of our breeding operation is making his debut at Woodbine this Sunday. It's a big day there with an impressive card. Quality racing! Hopefully he's up for the task.
His name is Bag Of Hammers, out of Cee Knows Evil by Langfuhr. We have his half sis on the farm, a lovely filly by Quiet American so we're hoping he kicks butt!!! The mare is by Dynaformer and her catalog page isn't hugely impressive so with any luck he'll give her a boost!
Think happy thoughts!!!

hi amanda1
Is what you meant that Bag Of Hammers is by Langfuhr and out of Cee Knows Evil by Dynaformer?
Here's hoping that Bag Of Hammers "kicks butt" (your words)...and, ultimately, adds some fresh bold ink to the catalogue page.
That said, whether "her catalog page isn't hugely impressive" (your words), or it is...the fact (as you mentioned) that you have his filly 1/2-sis back at the farm, and that she's by Quiet American (and out of a Dynaformer daughter), caught my attention.
Arguably...a "lovely filly" (your words) by Quiet American and out of a Dynaformer mare is (in and of itself) enough to suggest that her merits as a broodmare prospect are worthy serious consideration...regardless what her 1/2-bro (or she herself) accomplishes (or not) at the races.
Best of luck.
Respectfully

FOS,
Yes, I did mean he's by Langfuhr. Mama (Cee Knows Evil) is a Dynaformer. Sorry, forgot a comma in there!!
On the track the mare was a nice hard knocking mare that suffered a career ending injury. We thought she had a lot of class and would have liked to see how far she could go. When we went to Langfuhr for her first foal we wanted to breed to race, as we knew she didn't have the paper to back up a huge pricetag. Breed to race seemed like the best option, with the hope that the resulting foal would do something worth noting as a 2 or 3 y/o.
When we went to Quiet American we had fingers crossed for a filly, thinking that if by the time she was ready to sell, and her 1/2 bro was notable, her value as a broodmare would soar. The filly is honestly one of the nicest I've seen. She's very correct, has a great head on her shoulders, and is SO athletic. In the pasture she's got some moves that have me in awe. Hopefully that will translate into a quick turn of foot later on.
So here's hoping!!!!

Hi amanda1,
just checked on bag..........
winner's number = .42
bag of hammers listed as gelding = 3.3 hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
just leting you know
Regard's Siegy,
Flora is beginning of biology, chemistry is master.
Damn! He ran eight out of a field of twelve. Not exactly the jaw-dropping spectacle I was hoping for but a good learning experience for him. Got in some traffic and stayed steady. But most importantly, he came out of it in good shape! At least he wasn't trailing the field by 30 lenghts!!!
Live and learn.......
Practice makes perfect.......
Isn't that what they say????
By the way......where's the smiley clutching the puke bag to it's mouth??? That sure would be appropriate!

I never did think of langfuhr as a killer first time starter, so I uldn't be worried about it. Lawyer Ron didn't win until his 6th start! It got so bad with him you could have claimed him for 50k in his 4th start at turfway
also keep in mind that you couldn't have picked a tougher MSW race to run in for his debut... the under card of queen's plate? everyone who is anyone who has a decent 2 year old is going to try to run in that race.
also I would think he would relish more distance.. but again, Bear Holiday from what I saw.... that's a horse we will definatly be hearing about next year

Bdw....
Thanks for the encouragement. I agree with the assessment of Langfuhr, we certainly didn't expect a very precocious 2 y/o. His works are legit and he's had class from day one so I think he'll come along just fine.
It was a BIG job for a first start!!
I'm glad to see a Harlan's Holiday come out with a win like that. Christmas in Aiken is a local girl so we'd love to see Harlan's Holiday have some sucess at stud.

someone is going to be calling her about that colt if they aren't already... that's a GOOOOOOD colt.. no shame in loosing to a horse like that. I watch about 150 races a day.. I haven't seen a 2YO colt win that impressively first out yet

Lawyer Ron isn't a Polytrack horse. Something to keep in mind?

something else I forgot to mention... however his grandsire is Danzing.. that's not BAD for turf/poly I wouldn't think... Plus his Damsire is Dynaformer so he should be okay on the turf.. I would aruge he might be better bred for the turf, not necessary poly.
but his better days to seem to be on the dirt..

most first starts by 2yo are training missions anyways, most break a step slow, are in awe of all of the goings on which are new to them on race day, dont worry the lightbulb will come on .
