That's OK. They can do amazing things with maternity girths these days . . . .

If Sabellina bumps another horse in the race, can the other rider claim "foal" against her?

normal to race mare that has been bred?

Racing her seems a little risky.

I actually saw her a month ago when Joe got her back in the barn and she looked good. He mentioned that she was bred a week or so ago to Pulpit. I, myself think it is risky to run them in that condition but they said it's pretty sake. I did ask Joe if getting lasik posed any harm to the unborn but he said no it's been done before.

Hi Des,
Don't know how far back you go with him but I knew him when he first started training at Aqueduct. He had a horse named One Never Nose and did pretty good with him. One thing I know about him is he is a better trainer then people give him credit for. I'll be rooting for him and mommy all the way today:>) TJ

Pulpit 2007 Fee: $80,000 Live Foal

Potential earnings (if I figured right):

Win $39,000
Place $ 13,000
Show $7,150

from a dollars and cents standpoint is it worth the risk?

Running pregnant

Postby MizzenMast » Wed Jun 27, 2007 1:13 pm

She'll show more speed than usual. It's the flight reflex, staying out of trouble while pregnant. No joke.

Miss High Blade did pretty well running a couple stakes in the mid-90s in SoCal while pregnant... it changed her running style a bit, and she had some success with it.

13 AE Iron Goddess Hill C Hushion Michael E 119 L 15-1

edit:

Iron Goddess won gate to wire.....................

hope all came out well.

Hi Dondogs,
Did you hear who Iron Goddess Hill was in foal to? Not bad the in foal mares ran 1st and 4th. TJ

Sabellina ran a gallant fourth today. But why did they race her at 7 furlongs when she wants to go longer? It's not like she has a lot of racing ahead of her.

Hi Rok,
This was a prep for a longer Stake down the road. You know, she was NY bred filly of the year a couple times and is an open graded stakes winner. Guess they want to add to her laurels a bit more before the baby comes :>) TJ

Hi TJ,

Yep...I remember when Joe Acquilino (or Fireman Joe) trained her early in her career. My point was that she's got only a limited amount of time to race this year - why not get her ready for a longer race rather than prep her in a sprint and now wait another 3+ weeks to stretch her out?
