Penn National

I was at Penn National earlier in the week and one of the horsemen said the track planned to temporarily suspend its racing program next month. (They're still building their new grandstand and casino.)

Does anybody know anything about this or how long they may be dark?

I have been reading about this for a while.

it shouldn't be a long term problem. Penn is owned by a large, VERY large gaming company and they had an issue about slots and threated to shut the place down if they didnt' get what they wanted.

I have heard the daily purse average was cut to $50,000 per day this week. Strong arm tactics from management prior to the slots opening?
