Rahy and I think Storm Cat will be back with a vengeance.

This Storm Cat / Daughters of Rahy thing is looking like a match.

First Noble Causeway, now After Market.

I don't know if Rahy is just THAT good of a dam sire.. After Market's dam (Tranquility lake) was a VERY good Million dollar plus earner, and she had a very high selling yearling a couple of years back.. don't know what happened to him. But After Market sure is a runner.

Also Grand Reward and sophisticat (dang, I didn't realize Serena's Song was that good of a dam)

You'd poison Dreaming Of Anna with Storm Cat? What did he ever do for Serena's Song that other sires didn't do better?

After Market can run, but how about $9.7 Jalil? Giant's Causeway could run, but how about Freud?

How about breeding Rahy mares more often to Silver Deputy? Posse was a fast, durable horse (considering Asmussen trained him) and he's the hottest young sire around.

I'm reffering to Storm Cat moreso than Rahy.

If I personally had say.. a Dreaming of Anna I wouldn't touch Storm Cat.. it's STILL not worth the money.

Storm Cat's hope of getting back in the REAL racing scene and not the yearling sales,is Rahy.

BTW... whoever owns Dreaming of Anna......boy, what I wouldn't give. Race her until she's 5.. make 3 million... than get 5-6 good solid runners out of her.

Also, a son of Storm Cat out of a Rahy mare would be very closely related to Giant's Causeway, which a breeder would find attractive.

Um, her only G1 winner is by Storm Cat.

Um...if Pletcher could hold Harlington together a l'il better, he's got much more talent than the Storm Rat winner.

IF... you mean the most "overrated" trainer in the country with a Unbridled "poison" son? Interesting.

Exactly. How is it that a mare that made 38 starts has a five year old son with only 8 career starts...in the hands of the greatest trainer that the world has ever known?

I just find it funny that you can be bad-mouthing Pletcher and Unbridled one day, and the next, use them as an example of talent against a Storm Cat daughter. Amazing.

What kind of blonde logic is that? I said that Serena's Song produced a better foal from another sire...which is true. But...I stated that Pletcher can't hold Harlington together well enough to win a Grade 1 with him - that's a compliment?

As far as Unbridled, you've never read me badmouthing Smuggler, have you? Smuggler did race only 9 times, but Shug got some Grade 1s out of her, didn't he?

Toussaud was nowhere near as durable as Serena's Song, and yet, she had an Unbridled colt that was plagued with foot problems and made only 8 starts, as Harlington...and won three Grade 1s.

There's no telling how good Harlington might have been if, let's say, he started off in the Allen Jerkens barn. Harlington is better than anything that Serena's Song produced out of Storm Cat...he simply fell into the wrong hands. The race Harlington might have gotten his Grade 1 (the Suburban) didn't materialize, so Allen Jerkens got a Grade 1 for Political Force, a horse that has had chips removed at one time and has maybe 1/2 the talent as Harlington.

The Unbridled "poison" isn't talented related...it's physical related. And those physical shortcomings get passed down, don't they?

You consistently bad-mouth Unbridled, calling him and his get "poison" to the breed, yet, when it works into your argument against Storm Cat, you give him his deserved props. Amazing.

Furthermore, you have no idea IF Harlington is the best of her foals. You're going on hypotheticals. I dont follow Serena's Song's progeny closely, but I do know from a progeny search, her two best have been Storm Cats so far after being bred to Deputy Minister, Unbridled, Mr. Prospector, etc. One a G1 winner and the other a G2 winner.

I think Harlington is a talented horse, but say he's her most talented is a stretch when he hasn't shown it yet. Again, you'll jump on anything to bring down Storm Cat. It's ridiculous.

By the way, she looked very good here... http://youtube.com/watch?v=QsyK9TZtB-w

Again, you'll jump on anything to bring down Storm Cat. - it's not difficult to do.

It's no hypothetical...it's a matter of a trainer not being able to hold a horse together.

Storm Cat brought down the Phipps breeding empire. How many, if any, of the Phipps Storm Cat mares are producing anything? How many Troubling types has Phipps culled? Should Phipps thank his lucky stars that he has Chili Cat as a broodie...or regret the loss of Pine Island as a broodie more?

I dont know, Rok, how many? I'll be waiting on the number... considering I cant find more than a small handful that have proven to be unsuccessful broodmares, yet. Most are way too young to be proven one way or another. On the flip side, there's quite a few Danzig's, Seeking the Golds, and Mr. Prospector's who haven't produced anything of note.

And since you used her as an example, NONE of Troubling's sisters have produced anything of note and they're by Seeking the Gold and Deputy Minister, two proven broodmare sires of quality.

And for the record, Phipps should thank his lucky stars that his deceased FATHER had enough foresight to buy Our Country Place. She is NOT a product of generations of Phipps breeding. If you took her out of the equation, the only horse that would have garnered much attention out of their barn would be champion Storm Flag Flying, who just happens to be a Storm Cat daughter. Hmm...

Let's follow Colors Flying this year and see what happens. Fair enough?

And Smuggler deserved no attention...or Pine Island?

I agree that a lot of the Phipps mares are quite young; for example, Storm Flag Flying is a Storm Cat and has yet to have a foal on the track, so we'll see. The Phippses also bred Good Reward, a grade I winner by Storm Cat who just went to stud, so we'll see how he does, too. Interestingly enough, you just mentioned Chili Cat, who's by Storm Cat out a Seeking the Gold mare, as is Good Reward. The Phippses also have Country Hideaway, who interestingly has been bred to hardier, more consistent stallions like Dynaformer and El Prado.
