Very nice run by AGS in The Haskell. Is A.P. Indy having another good year? Is AGS's mother, Weekend in Indy in foal?

Yes, it was a nice race by AGS. Curlin looked a little tired at the end. Wonder if he really liked the track. Didn't have the usual fighting vigor to go on with AGS getting by him. Hard Spun's hard luck continues although second was not bad..I think Jones may want to pick a softer spot for him. :)

In my opinion, the top colt is still Street Sense. He won his comeback race and yeah, poo-poo the field he ran against, but he won. I can't wait until the Travers and see who comes after him there.

I think it's gonna be interesting leading up to BC Day!!!

AGS ran a nice race today. Let's hope he doesn't break down in the Travers like Bluegrass Cat did.

Yes, I think it was a nice win for Any Given Saturday, and things are bound to improve for him. But, as the 'experts' at TVG were doing, it is kind of early to annoint him a Champion or Horse of the Year.

The HOY debate was hard to listen to. Lets wait until the best horse in the crop runs, lets give Street Sense his shot.

Easier spot for Hard Spun, like what? Hes a G1 calibur horse, should he run in an overnight somewhere? That horse belongs with the best horses running, hes fantastic.

I just hate seeing Hard Spun lose I guess... :D I would like to see him in the JCGC, try his elders.

Yeah, the HOY discussion made me want to choke on my beer. So quick to annoint a horse....and I know he won't make the quick turnaround to face Street Sense in the Travers...

actually looked like he was just getting rolling there at the end of the race. funny enough... I think he is better at a mile and a half than a mile 1/8th

another thing, this race has done nothing to convince me that AGS is better than Curlin. all it has convinced me is that SA can't house break a dog, let alone get a grade 1 horse ready to run. it took him half the race just to get into stride, let alone get in contention.

As much as I bash Larry Jones... Hard spun was cranked.

If Curiln was in a REAL barn... It's frighting what could happen.

If I were the owners of curlin I'd switch Trainers or retire him while he still has value

I don't think Curlin liked the track. One commentator said he looked as if he was climbing a bit. In an earlier post I said he looked tired coming down the lane and he didn't have the dogged fight in him today. Albarado had him on the rail and then switched him to the outside, four wide, he may have used up any extra energy doing that. I am sure they will look him over with a fine toothed comb to make sure nothing went wrong somewhere. Somedays horses just throw in a clunker or fail to show the fire they had before. Perhaps Curlin was due a reversal of form. It's bound to happen.

Well first of all this race ends the myth of Curlin being some kind of superhorse. First he got beat by a girl and now AGS spanked him pretty good. Secondly Larry it's time to try Hard Spun at a mile on the grass or find a big purse on the poly track somewhere. Thirdly all the talk of the 3yos being head and shoulders above the older horses is nonsense the BC Classic could very well be won by one these supposed mediocre 4-5 yos.

Curlin has no excuse and he wasnt running late. He couldnt even pass an exhausted Hard Spun. I think its time for L Jones to shorten Hard Spun up a little too, its obviously past his scope. He runs the same winning race each race, unfortunately they are putting him in spots he cannot win. Not because hes not talented enough, its just beyond is distance limitations.

These 3 year olds are exceptional, however Curlin is about 5th on that list. Street Sense is obviously the leader of the 3yo boys, really shouldnt be a doubt about it

Maybe Hard Spun really wants the grass, Foggy?

I'll give Curlin and Hard Spun another shot before I write them off. Although I do agree, even though certain people here thought volumes of his ability to get the Belmont distance, he needs to be shortened. I never thought he was a 10f horse, on pedigree alone. His running style certainly doesn't help matters. But a dangerous horse in any race.

AGS last 2 races have been very impressive. Does Pletcher have him peaking at the right time? Remember AGS only lost by a nose to Street Sense back in March. Obvisiously both horses have gooten better since the Tampa Derby. I can see both of them running in the Breeders Cup.

Not sure AGS will relish that 10th furlong of any 1 1/4 mile race, whereas it is right up SS's alley.

AGS should make an interesting stallion prospect for Winstar. He's got a "closed" pedigree, similar to Bluegrass Cat, which will lead into some creative and serious inbreeding with the majority of the US mare population, but his female line is anchored by the bluehen Beadah.

Beadah is the ancestress of Relaunch, Glitterman, Chimes Band, Rubiano, Tapit, etc. All, excluding the young Tapit, have proven to be very good to decent stallions.
