Wake At Noon?!

What up with this? This horse should be enjoying a well deserved retirement :!:

I believe he has experienced recurring fertility problems, hence his extended racing career.

True enough however he is now 10 years old (and a champion to boot). Isn't it possible that racing and drugs can interfere with fertility therefore compromising his retirement to stud? He retired (the first time) to the shed just prior to the start of breeding season in 2004. Heck he is going to be racing against his progeny

I asked his current trainer Mark Fournier who has a bunch of horses for Bruno Schickendanz as well as Wake At Noon, why he is in training again and he said that he loves stable life and will probably go to Saratoga to run. Mark is a good caretaker and I am sure that the horse is happy, in fact I will go to the barn tomorrow and give Noon a carrot.

Let's not get carried away. Some horses just don't take to life away from the track and if the horse is happy and shows he still wants to run (regardless of level -- stop anthropomophising. It's a horse. He doesn't know if he's in G1 or bottom level claimers) then let him run. Running at 10 doesn't seem to be bothering Caller One (who just won the Rocket Man) or The Tin Man. And it's not unheard of for a horse to cover mares in the spring and race in the fall -- ol' Silveyville did it for 2-3 IIRC. I think Epic Honor's done it twice.

Sam - point taken
btw I wasn't anthropormorphizing I was assuming that as a horse he would like to have turn-out and have sex all spring long :P

If he is happy than that is great for him and thanks wilf for giving him a carrot, give him an extra one from me

I'd say any animal would... but then we have War Emblem who apparently did not. 8)

Pleaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeee since when has mr. b.s.
cared what happens to his horses.. re: farm hwy 9 and 50 .. Near Newmarket in Ontario.. not England lol
Lets see remember "Victoriously Bold" It has nothing to do with the horse being happier at the track.. its called $$$$$$$$$$$ MONEY $$$$$$$$$$
The last time i saw Wake At Noon at the track he looked sore & run down.

The only saving grace is that he is in a barn where he will be well cared for...(Mark Fournier) but please don't give me that song and dance about "he is happier at the track.. "

Any owner who would committ "Fraud" (Canadian housing and mortgage corperation" ) to sell homes .. isn't going to lose sleep over Wake At Noon .. that horse should have retired a long time ago.. and with all the crap given while racing no wonder the poor guy has hard time impregnating mares.

If he isn't making his owner money as a stallion then oh my god we had better send him back to the track to try to make some money from him that way.. its carbon copy of "VICTORIOUSLY BOLD"

This makes me angry beyond comprehension. I have been hoping that he would be run in a claiming race so that he could be "saved". This horse is much more deserving of a good life and retirement than the one he'll get with BS - however long or short that may be :(

Not sure what we can do, not like public pressure will work on this owner. Might have better luck with tar and feathers.

just thought I'd revive this too.... I really think attention needs to be drawn to this matter for the sake of all thoroughbreds.

Thanks for bringing this tread back up, Mood Swings.... Victoriously Bold was the name I was referring to in my other entry. Bruno S needs to be banned ASAP!!
