That's a subject that EVERYONE has been able to sweep under the rug.
The fact that there is a good....not GREAT.. but GOOD change, next year can be hollywood park's last year in operation. From what I understand, to whipe out debt, the land that the park sits on is very valuable and would be made until real estate.
while you can't knock a sound business decision, and out of the 3 SoCal tracks, that's my least favoriate... you hate to see a track go down. Any track but one espically the size of Hollywood park.
However, what would happen to the race dates? Would Santa Anita get more of them?

bdw, you have to remember that the same devious folks who own Bay Meadows run Hollywood Park. That means Jack Liebau and his pals at the Bay Meadows Land Co. If you DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY SAY you will have a front seat on the truth. They are interested in horse racing only because it generates some cash flow before they either sell or develop the property.
The demand for new industrial/commercial property in either San Mateo or Inglewood is not high at the moment. Depending on what interest rates do in the next few years, the future of both tracks is problematic. My bet is that both tracks will be around for at least five years, perhaps longer for Hollywood Park. Why? In addition to the market demand and finance issues, I've heard talk of both tracks coming down for decades, yet they still stand. In the 1970's Hollywood Park was to be demolished and a new track built in the flood basin of the San Fernando Valley!!! So, I take all this exodus talk with the grain of sand.

I thought Churchill Inc owned Hollywood park?
I'm not necessarly out on taking down some of these tracks... I'm moving to SoCal here soon and It's going to suck going to Del Mar, Arcadia and then Hollywood every 2 months. Have a little consistancy for crying out loud. I'm having hell figuring out where to live!
