No Masscap for Street Sense

Postby bdw0617 » Thu Sep 06, 2007 2:22 pm

Trainer Carl Nafzger ruled out two of the five races he previously listed as options for Street Sense’s final prep for the Breeders’ Cup Classic Powered by Dodge (G1).

Nafzger said Street Sense would not race before the last weekend of September, eliminating the Massachusetts Handicap at Suffolk Downs and Super Derby presented by Youbet.com (G2) at Louisiana Downs as possibilities. Both those races will be run on September 22.

“It will be on September 29 or 30,” Nafzger said on Thursday morning after conferring with owner-breeder James Tafel.

The three options Nafzger has mentioned for that weekend are the Kentucky Cup Classic Stakes (G2) at Turfway Park and Hawthorne Gold Cup Handicap (G2) on September 29 at Hawthorne Park and Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes (G1) on September 30 at Belmont Park.

i can assure you he's not going to the JCGC... and I doubt he wants to tackle Hard spun again before the BC Classic, so he looks Hawthorne bound.

I like how CN can get SS cranked for big races, but I think this is the prep you wanna take part in for the classic. Might end up being the strongest classic prep this year. might be.

Very intrest6ing race that is shaping up.

Don't count out Midnight Lute.

And from a personal perspective, I would love to see Super Frolic come back.
