I added it to his information in PQ. Check him out, his name is Majesty's World.
I worked with him at Marsh Farm. I broke him, rubbed him and he came home as a 2 yr old with a tendon and we were instructed to geld him. I had the job of working on his tendon. I rubbed him before he went to the track and asked for him back. He had 7 starts before he came home. That means he had 78 starts after his tendon injury with 3 stakes wins, one a Gr II and 5 stakes placings (one in a Gr II).
Just to let you know, he did retire to the farm and lived out his life there.

I just pulled info about a horse I worked with 30 years ago
Moderators: Roguelet, hpkingjr, WaveMaster
Here's the link to his pedigree -
Never mind I can't get it, you're on your own.
Just to let you know, he had this record:
starts - 85, wins - 15, 2nds -14, 3rds - 8 that's 44% , if you count 4ths - 13 his % was 59%.
He was fun to work with and around, I enjoyed galloping him too. Strong but listened, he did like to buck, but would do it in stride.
Wow, am I old...................

Hi Winds,
You aren't the only one that remembers that horse, so I wouldn't say we're old at all, just mature and experienced :>)
I remeber you mentioning Joe Cantey as a former employer, wasn't Cantey the trainer for JD Marsh at that time? Were you around him when he had Damascus Blade at Belmont? He was from the same crop as Majesty and I thought he was a stake horse yet it isn't noted in his query, do you remember if he was?
Back then it wasn't easy bringing one back after a bow and to then move forward to graded stakes--kudos to you on a job well done Winds :>) TJ

Thank you, but I'll have to give credit to our vet at the time, John Mayo. He's the one that did the ultra sound at the farm and told me what to do and the farm manager Mike Flynn for agreeing with Doc's assesment and plan. Also to Maj for being such a good little patient.
I remember the name Damascus Blade, but Joe didn't have him when I worked for him. He had Cox's Ridge (I was there the first year Joe had him), so he could have been there just before I started to work for Joe or right after.
Two of the horses I rubbed for Joe were Populi and Gaebale. They were neat horses to work with too.
Oh, memory lane...............
You might want to check on Equineline for his record, it'll cost you $8 for his full race record, but it's all there.

Hi Winds,
Yes, I remember Populi, actually use to follow that horse because she was a 1/2 to Temperence Hill and produced quite a few winners herself. Thanks to that mare, I believe it was Shug, that made his name with her son Vanlandingham and ended up training for Phipps. That was a vey nice family.
Populi also was from the same crop (1975) as both Majesty and Damascus Blade. I guess you must have just missed Damascus Blade. Was Billy Badgett still galloping horses for Cantey when you were there--he galloped Damascus Blade? TJ

No, I think Billy was before I went to work for Joe. His dad Zeke was a groom for Joe though. What a character he was, called me Viva and always wanted to get married for the "weekend". LOL
Zeke had worked for some nice outfits in his day, and not just as a groom, but as a trainer and farm manager. Drinking was his down fall. He forgot more than most know.
Yea, I almost fainted when I saw who Vanlandingham's dam was, I'd lost track of my girl. She was the reason Joe advised Mr. Anthony to buy Temperance Hill. Populi was easy in the stall, but something else out of it. She wasn't easy to walk and she was a bear to gallop. I used to have to put a snake bit on her. ( That was one of the bits I used on my trainers test, the stewards wanted to know how old I was, 'cause no one had ever put that bit down on the test.)
Gaebale was a pretty good broodmare herself, she had a couple of stake horses. She was by Gallant Man, nice, fast filly, but she bowed, came back from the farm and the leg was nice and tight, but she'd bolt in works and races. So they retired her.

Hey folks! I was right after Lass Trump won the Ballerina Stakes that Phipps took an interest in Shug for the job. Of all the great things Shug did for Loblolly, Phipps was very impressed with Shug's job with Lass Trump and she's the filly that "sealed the deal."

Hi Winds,
Now we're really goin down memory lane........weekend weddings, that sounds like Zeke alright:>) He was a great guy and knew a race horse from the inside out. He use to race ride back in the day too. Unfortunately, drinking stopped a lot of good people on the track, the list of AA graduates of the luckier ones would read like a who's who of racing:>) TJ
Hiya Roke,
Vanlandigham didn't hurt him in that spot though :>) TJ
I learned a lot from talking to the "old" boys, course I'm their age now and really don't consider myself an "old" girl.........though my body tells me different sometimes
I'd eat breakfast with them, or lunch and would just listen and ask questions. You can learn alot from history, and they were living text books. I just absorbed as much as I could from them. And the horses they worked with, wow, the who's who of the horse world!
You're correct inthat a good number of excellent horsemen succumbed to the drink. Now I guess it's drugs................
I love memory lane, it's so forgiving.............
