The Tempted Stakes at Aqueduct

Postby KAL » Mon Oct 29, 2007 10:28 pm

Okay, I can breathe finally. Its only been 30+ hours…

Sunday Holiday was a big favorite in her race Sunday at Aqueduct. It would have been fantastic had she won. However, I could only pray for her safety. I literally held my breath as Kent D. pushed her up the rail into traffic. You see, it was in a similar spot that her older sibling took the bad step that ended her life last spring. I have nothing against the big A, however I’ll never be able to enjoy another race held there.

As for Sunday Holiday… she finished third. Many would be disappointed, but not me… it looked like she came back sound. Of course, Kent D. did make sure she had excuses… got her boxed in. Isn’t there an unwritten rule about trying to take a favorite up the rail in a short field? I guess Kent didn’t get that memo. Oh well, at least she is safe and sound. She’ll get her graded stakes win if she stays sound. I just hope she doesn’t run again at Aqueduct…

On another note… it was interesting to see that the two horses we lost to in the Frizette came back to run pretty well. They finished 1st and 3rd in the BC Juv. Fillies. It will be interesting to see if the Baffert filly trains on. If she does, she could be a truly special one.

I am glad your filly came out of the race in good shape.
It can be very scary when that happens and a sibling as well.

Hi KAL,

Sunday Holiday isn't the first victim of a boneheaded Kent D ride, and she won't be the last. Take heart!

As for Indian Blessing, she is an Indian Charlie (In Excess). Her shelf life clock may already be ticking.

For once, Rokeby, I agree. Indian Blessing isn't likely to last through her three year old year. Indian Charlie and In Excess are two stallions I would never use in a breeding program. Not like I'll ever have a breeding program, but if I did....
