Tyler Baze goes off

Postby bdw0617 » Sat Nov 10, 2007 1:04 pm

Mad because he is getting taken off of mounts that he has been on all year long because of the influx of jockies coming in, he was quoted saying

"It's tough when trainers take you off horses and put him on," Baze said of Gomez. "Flat out, that ticks you off. I hate that. Just because he comes into town I get taken off horses, and that doesn't show any respect to me or any loyalty at all."

I find it interesting. We talk about loyalty to the owners and jockies, in partuclar harping on the P Val situtation, yet the second they can find someone with more flash in their name, they dismount the jockey that has done it day in and day out for them.

I can understand if the jockey wasn't winning races, but if you are running good on a horse, what kinda loyalty is that?

Loyalty works both ways.

The same kind of loyalty a jock would show you, if he got a better mount after committing to yours.

Well, I can think of better ways of trying to burn your bridges, but they would involve an exploding tanker truck. And a bridge.

He's right. He's worked his ass off! At Del Mar, If I needed help working horses he was there within minutes of a call to Ebanks. Talamo as well. I and they were rewarded with winners.
It's only natural that people would be looking for Go Go or Bejarano etc but he is right. He is riding as good as anyone. And works his butt off every day with a smile on his face. He deserves some loyalty!

Everyone has a hard on for leading rider.... Tyler came out of the dumps and rode dogs and developed good business. He's a good rider. He just needs a shot. Is Gomez a good rider? Forsure, and better than TC. Sure. BUT there ought to be some loyalty. I have no hesitation legging up Tyler.

They are both good riders. Tyler has confidence on his side at this point. Michael isn't winning at the same clip as TC at this moment. I have had great success with both of them so I will not knock either. They both work hard and ride well.

well frankel promised first call to Bejarano on all mounts so I'm sure that effected Tyler in some way.

I would also too like to see who else did that. it's not just goGo, it's JL, Gomez and the whole slew.. they are coming in and taking first mounts.

How many horses has Tyler riden for Frankel in the last year? I bet i could count them on one hand.
It MIGHT affect Talamo, but even his business is elsewhere as well. Sadler riding Gomez is going to hurt the Ebanks boys far more than Frankel.
I thought you "stayed on top of this stuff." Why post it if you don't have the facts?

I don't know that he rides first call. He rides Mike and Tyler alot and spreads it out some. Pretty sure Doug can get whom ever he wants to ride first call.
