Rags To Riches Returns

Postby TJ » Mon Nov 12, 2007 6:21 pm

According to Todd Pletcher, Rags to Riches is scheduled to return to training at Hollywood Park next month. He doesn't expect her to be ready to race before April '08. TJ

All the king's horses and all the king's men put Humpty Dumpty together again?

Maybe to Pletcher's. He's the one that was sending her out to the track while she was running a temperature.

No, you're the one that can't stand the idea of Rags to Riches going back to training. It just proves you completely wrong, and you are not man enough to admit that you are wrong.

What'd I miss? She likely is worth a MINT as a broodmare. Why risk it?

Based on how Half Ours came back to the races, you're right...I thought Coolmore would be out of their minds letting Pletcher bring her back. When she's carted off the track for good, remind me to repost your comment.

Maybe I should write, "If I knew then what I know now." That's about all it takes to earn George's respect.

She actually isn't worth as much as you might think on account of Coolmore being out of the buying her game on account of Tabor, and Darley's being out of the game because of the boycott.

Therefore the foals won't be worth so much, and therefore the mare herself is worth less than she would be otherwise.

Her foals are worth their weight in gold until she proves other wise. It's not about how much they can sell her for it's how much they can sell her FOALS for.

Bred to the right stallion, I'd say the first foal would make TGM look like a bargain... Though I could be wrong as we all know he was no bargain.

If she does actually return to racing I will A) be shocked as I suspect lots will go on between now and then and B) hope that she does not do herself in. I just worry about soundness in horses when they start to experience issues so early. But time will tell I guess. :?

Thx Tuc I often get accused of babying TB's  , but the status of their legs to me is equivocal to a race car with flat tires. And RR had heart, just like Barbaro, only thing is they matched those dura max engines to bicycle tires. I would hope they breed RR to a line that has the legs to carry that monster desire, and then I think we will all stand back in awe. :)

You and me both. I had a couple of bad experiences at Hollywood and witnessed some ugly breakdowns. You'd almost think that Circle The World would have Todd treading lightly with this surface and one of his more valuable horses.

But who would buy the foal? Certainly not Coolmore or Darley.

No way they'd be worth their weight in gold unless I'm somehow missing something.
