New Bet at Santa Anita

Postby bdw0617 » Mon Dec 03, 2007 4:25 pm

California has approved a new bet, where... get this... you have to pick the first 5 horses of a horse race in order.

Yeah, because you know, that superfecta was just too darn easy to hit. I got tired of walking home with thosuands and thousands of dollars from countless superfecta's I've hit.'

I can only imagine what the takeout on it will be...40%

I seriously don't think I've ever hit a superfecta in my life. I've only hhit 1 trifecta.. I'm not a big tri/super guy, I like to play horizontly..

I will say it is interesting in the sense that it carries over when not hit. it's like getting pick 6 carryover day every day of the week.

It's been a bet at Caymanas Park in Jamaica. It's called Hi-Five. I wonder if it's called the same here... Very Very Hard to pick

My dad use to say to me"Why play the tri it's to hard" I've won several. Then the superfecta , hit those to. But this I've got to draw the line somewhere. I would never play it.

It's the kind of bet where you really have to hit the "ALL" button for 4th and 5th. How can you pick a horse to run 5th? LOL!

I don't realisticly play supers... i play them to try to hit grandslams when I love a price. I played one in the pacific classic because I had student council singled at the top but I had lava man singled 2nd.

i'm a HUGE pick 6 fan.. not even so much as the betting just the drama and antipiation.

I know what you mean about the pick 6's. I'll never forget
Miss Double Dots the way Jose Valdivia rode her, I thought my dad was gona have a heart attack. That's a race that I need to get a replay of it was the best race I've ever seen. She was checked at least 4 or 5 times. She won. But then the last race my dad only had one horse long shot so he won 5 out of 6.

there isn't a feeling on earth like being alive after 3 legs of a pick 6 wit a million dollar carryover. earlier this year when they had the 2 million dollar carryover at hollywood park, I remember I hit the first 3 legs.. 10-4-4 and I was craping in my pants because well.... first of all, i just had to get 2 of the next 3 to get SOMETHING of a 6 millionish dollar pot. that last 4 by the way was a 73 to 1 shot. so needless to say I was on cloud nine.

next race comes, I had the 2nd choice singled int he race, gray filly.. gets checked to the point where she is turned sideways and looses momentium and comes in 3rd by a length.. no inquiry.

okay so I'm still int he mark for 5 out of 6. next race my horse just t hrows a clunker. had that sinlged as well

well turns out last race I'm still alive becuse everyone else is dead too. and I had 3 going into the last leg.. and they finished last, next to last and 4th. 16 to 1 shot comes home.

Especially when you have Dream Supreme keyed in the Ballerina Stakes.

Why don't they let you bet on who'll finish last?

It's not that easy to pick the last place finisher. It should be a cheap speed that gets eased in the stretch, but there's always one or two slowpokes that don't manage to catch that horse.

Nice carryover at Hollywood Park tomorrow. Anybody here going to give it a shot?

i'm tossing around the idea of it. looking at the card however, I have a feeling it might carryover again so I dont' know if I want to give it a shot tomorrow or go thursday. I usually dont' touch the socal pick 6's untili they hit 300kish carryover because then it gets insane with the amount of people wanting to play it.

the initiation of the "dime" superfectas is what has me play them sometimes. you can get 100 combos for $10. works out to be 3x4x4x5 (i think) if you have overlapping horses in the spots. I've hit a few, nothing terribly huge, but my most memorable was when my ticket had $1.80 on it, i'm ready to leave the track but decided to play. I keyed top 2 then went 3x6 so 1x1x3x6 and won nearly $200 as 2 bombs came in 3rd and 4th. i'd consider playing if they had the $.10 minimum.

We are regular exacta/trifecta types (and hit those often enough) and now with the 10 cent supers have got a bit adventurous.. but FIVE?? Maybe in a six-horse race :)
