A gelding named Jump Bail Dnf'd. Did anyone see how bad it was?

Anyone at Turf Paradise here?

Horsemen like Burton Sipp make me so proud to be associated with this game.

Sipp makes me feel even more strongly a tough as nails National Commisioner is needed to clean up this game. Trash like Sipp should not be allowed within 100 yards of an animal in any state.

Why? Sipp used to own and operate a backyard petting zoo!

Getting an answer about a horse at Turf isn't easy. Sorry no help here.

Not that I am sticking up for him, I know what he has done, but I did see a lot of his horse's on the Canter website for sale. He is trying to sell some and get them homes. I just hope he is doing this in honest fashion.

When did becoming barbecue parts in a meat freezer qualify as finding a home?

Canter Ohio and Canter NE. There've been much worse. Those they give awards to.

Hope the horse is indeed OK, but from what I hear Turf is also the gateway to the slaughterhouses in Mex.

I don't know what you're basing your comments on, but I trained and owned horses there for over 10 years and you are painting a different picture of Turf Paradise than the one that I have. Their are bad seeds at every track, but we don't need to condemn the whole track!

My opinions are based on the charts since Oct, the numerous breakdown and van offs there, and the editorial that was written about the living quarters there: http://www.abc15.com/mostpopular/story.aspx?content_id=216d6d3f-d251-4fab-9d68-a0b0a57e81cc

Whenever I have tried to find out info about a horse it is met with silence where other tracks usually will provide an answer.

I am sure there are good guys out there. But if you compare the numbers of injuries happening there it is above average and that is what has caught my attention. Some days it seems like all they are doing is running 5K claimers all day and those seem to be the ones that are get it the worst. Lately I see they have been offering a bit more variety and the incidents seem to have slowed down since the holidays.

I have a long, long list of horses...I hope none of them are yours and if you have lost a horse there I am truely sorry. A friend of mine is a fan of Tennessee Whiskey..and another is wanting to know if the filly Snowbound Reigns made it. I did edit my comment because it was a vent and I do realize "gateway to hell" may have seemed a little....strong.

I stabled at Turf Paradise in'94 and loved it, if you could survive on the purses there I would never have left. However it is the end of the road for many horses that have been all over looking for one friend to save their bacon. I claimed a lovely gray by Woodman there and he was beaten a long way that day which did not concern me as he had a plastic foot where every nail was actually embedded into the epoxy resin that represented his hoof wall. His last win before that had been at Rillito in Tucson. What did bother me that day was that more than one guy told me what a nice horse he was and how well he would run if he was "plugged in"with a battery device. I shook my head and gave him 4 months between races to let his feet grow out. He won first out going 6 furlongs and 3 starts later won by 20 lengths smashing the track record at Fort Erie when he ran the 2nd fastest mile and a half on the dirt in Canadian history . The sad part is that there are plenty of horses out there like him,you just need to cross paths with them.

So barbfool, Since you are at the track, would you find out what happened to Jump Bail and let us know?

Thank you.

Great story Wilf. TP is a last stop for many horses but your story shows how some get to the end via bad caretaking/pushing on rather than giving them time off.

I'll bet you will never forget that horse..
