A DRF article from about a week ago said this was her last start before she ships to KY for a date with Hard Spun.

I have loved watching her career - I am sore I missed the race - but glad she won.

I am bursting with pride that Monashee showed everyone what she is made of. She is such a classy mare. I have seen her from when she was a quirky 3-year-old filly win the BC Oaks, to what she did today.
Hastings was lucky to have a horse like her. Won't see a filly like her for awhile. Dancing Allstar is good, but she's not Monashee!
Cannot wait to see her foals run.

I just watched the replay... to know that was the first time she has had the whip in a meaningful way in a couple of years is phenomonal.

I am sick that I missed that price ($9.00 on the win.. after 2.10 payouts on a win after how many years? LOL)

 going to Hard Spun??? So sooooon??? Yeah yeah I know she's six, but she is just so good and enjoyable to watch and I think she has a few more good races to run...... ah well it looks like the hypomating does put out a decent numbered foal:

HARD SPUN/MONASHEE DP = 3-4-11-2-0 (20) DI = 1.67 CD = 0.40; GSV = 60.32

Conduit Mare Profile = 5-3-5-12-2 Speed = 8 Stamina = 14 Index = 0.86 Triads = 13-20-19

Leaning towards some distance hopefully!!! Gee wonder how this nicks?!?

From DRF:

Monashee earns one more start

Monashee may have temporarily postponed retirement with a front-running victory Monday in the $80,200 Paseana Handicap. A 6-year-old gray mare, Monashee ($9) raced wire to wire under Mike Smith in the 1 1/16-mile race for her 18th win from 24 career starts, including an 11-race win streak from summer 2006 through fall 2007. Owned by Ole Nielsen, the western Canadian-based Monashee was racing for the first time in Southern California.

"Down here, she would not have won 11 in a row, but she would have been competitive and they would have known she was here," Nielsen said.

Monashee, named after a mountain range in British Columbia, is booked to be bred this spring to Hard Spun.

Nielsen said Monashee will remain at Santa Anita, and would be considered for one final start before shipping to Kentucky. Monashee earned an 86 Beyer Speed Figure with her half-length win over Sweet Belle.

Nah, it's not a reference to anything, other than my initial hesitancy to start posting on the board, after being a lurker for a while.
