Fountain Of Youth
Either my eyes or my ears decieved me when I watched the race being run and the announcer noted the slow early fractions. The DRF posted entirely different fractions and final times then were posted during the running of the race. The time was so slow early I was getting ready to make a case for Shug's 3YO colt who broke his maiden today. His fractions and final time were faster than the FOY winner. So far I haven't seen an article about a timer malfunction, but there is a 2+ second difference in the times I saw posted at the track and the official DRF charts. Does anyone have any info? TJ

TJ, yeah I just noticed that equibase are 2 seconds faster than the race fractions. Nothing up on gulfstreampark.com, though on the bloodhorse they post the track fractions, to which Desormeaux is quoted as saying he thought the fractions were faster than what they were... http://tcm.bloodhorse.com/viewstory.asp?id=43787

Hi,
Well, the time has been changed again regarding the FOY. Seems the outrider triggered the timer before the actual lead horse got there. Therefore all the times after the 1st 1/4 have to be correct....concerning fractions during the running from the 1/2 mile pole to the wire (minus the second plus that the timer was triggered early). What I don't understand is how DRF, Eqiubase, and others showed such a fast time the first time and now tone it down to close to what Shug's maiden winner ran. TJ

I have always been under the impression the DRf etc have their own timers on hand, as after certain races like the Kentucky Derby, for example, they post their time as well as the official track time.
Hi Juan,
Yes they use to, but I believe that is no longer done, I could be wrong though, so if anyone knows for sure I would appreciate a response. From what I understand they just time the replay. TJ
