Looked about broke down turning for home, legs floundering everywhere. But he did have a rough trip into the first turn.

I hope he's ok, but I also thought he was way overrated. Go Pyro!

He was a good 2 year old. As a Derby hopeful, he's overrated.

Hi Barbaro,
In that field the very worst War Pass could have ran was run 3rd. No doubt we will hear what happened to him tonight or tomorrow. He may have been stepped on when he got bounced around coming out of the gate....let's hope that is all because he wasn't asked to run at all through the lane. Raced like the rider was protecting him. Official chart said War Pass stopped and was not pressed in the stretch. TJ

Overrated? A speed horse who has never been headed; broke flat footed; rated well down the backside and failed to respond. I don't know about being overrated but he sure was exposed.

Hope he's OK. This guy is from a female line that hadn't distinguished itself for durability; neither his dam, his granddam, nor his great-granddam lasted more than 6 starts, and his dam has had only one of her foals make as many as ten starts. I'm sure they were hoping the mating to Cherokee Run would bring in improved toughness.

Tampa has the strangest surface really, quite like no other. Many horses with good form seem to go downhill when they struggle on that pure sand main track. I have a retiree at home who won 33 races at 6 different tracks but could not hit the board on the Tampa sand and grew more uncomfortable in his hocks the more he trained on it. Only a good summer break got him back in form.
